Just ONE MORE CAST.......

Today, We’re on our way home from “Like No Place on Earth” , Wyoming, holed up in Sheridan for the night. Caught waaayyyy tooo many fish and hated to leave but… Well, the weather here has turned toward winter. Snow to the point that Y’Stone South entrance was closed. Since we usually leave for home through Y’Stone East Entrance ( Cody) , I persisted in inquiring as to the status of the roads. Finally the South entrance was open and we proceeded through Grand Teton, Rockerfeller Memorial Parkway and just before the South Entrance to Y’Stone where the Snake River crosses said Parkway (Flagg Ranch)), I decide to try “Just ONE MORE CAST”. The results are pictured below. Unfortunately , because of a damaged fly line, and 5X tippet, I had to play him for a VERY long time before I was able to land and contrary to my “no need to feed my ego with pictures” I decided to have my wife do it.

PS: And again, 49 weeks before my next fly fishing trip ( LORD willing)

Nice. Very nice indeed. It looks like even the big ones know that winter is coming.

Excellent, glad that hear you and your bride had a good time,

Be safe on your trip home…

I thought about you folks last night as I saw the snow close to town here, hoped you were on the way home and safe.
Heck, you did way better than that!
Hugs to you both,
Deanna

Marco,

Nice brown! Please be careful traveling and enjoy…

Well, maybe next year, we’ll have to see what develops. Glad you had a great time. The weather, snow especially, did put out the fire that was smoldering in my hunting area, and it does feed the system for next years fishing, I keep reminding myself.

Have a safe trip home Marco.

Nice fish!! That “one last cast” is important. One year, many years ago in Fla., a guy caught the state record LMB for the year on his “last cast.” Every time I made my “last cast,” I’m reminded of that.

Well, trying to replicate the “Just ONE MORE Cast” results , leaving Sheridan I fished Piney Creek near Story WY. Absolutely beautiful “thin” water for pocket water fishing. Tiny brookies were hitting my #20 ( some kinda Caddis) at almost every cast.
Needless to say, we ain’t on schedule per our ETA into home. In fact, we’re now only in MItchell SD and a full day from home. Going home is tough after this trip and obviously, we’re not in a great hurry to end it.

PS: Thanks all for the kind comments. And, Byron, due to Y"Stone’s road closures, we originally planned to take the Southern route which would have taken us into Rock Springs and perhaps a pop of a cork or two with you and your lovely. And, then again, like the Cubs, there’s always next year ( Lord willing)
