Just a dad bragging a little (not ff)

My daughter graduates Magna Cum Laude from Duke Univ. this Sunday with degrees in Biological Anthropology & Anatomy and History. She will be attending Duke Univ. Medical School in the fall, hoping to become an orthopedic surgeon. She will spend the summer doing research at the Duke Univ. Medical Center, focusing on communicable diseases. I’ll be leaving for North Carolina 4 am tomorrow.
I’m allowed to brag…aren’t I  Thanks!!!

Ken

Most excellent Indeed! Congratulations to each of you!

Oh what a feeling!

Darned right you should be proud! Outstanding! In 15 years when I need my left knee replaced I will know who to see about it.

You bet you’re allowed to brag!! That’s quite the accomplishment!

Ken,
Definitely a “braggable” event. My congratulations to her, to you and to all who inspired her.

Mark

Ken,
Not only are you ALLOWED to brag…you’d be a fool NOT to!! What an accomplishment!
Congrats to all.
Mike

Ken its always gratifying to parents when a child accomplish so much. The parents had a lot with her upbringing. BILL

You should be proud…as she should be.

fantastic! i wish her all the best in med school!

Ken,

Yes, go a head and brag; even get choked up with pride.

Respectfully,
Sean

Allowed to brag? You betcha! It’s a right all proud parents have. Congratulations to your daughter and to you dad and mom!

Not only are you allowed, but it’s encouraged…she’s accomplished alot and it looks like she is on track to accomplish alot more. As a parent, you had a big hand in that. Congratulations to you and her!!!

Thank God for Orthopedic Surgeons

1 surgery right knee, total replacement.

1 surgery left thumb (LTCRT) Left Thumb Cartlilage Replacement with Tendon
1 surgery right thumb (RTCRT) three weeks out
In three weeks-middle finger (left hand) replacement

All these in the past eight years, need I say more. I am lucky that my two orthopedic surgeons are avid f/fisherman and they keep me upright and in the water. I’m only 59 years young and arthritis has a great hold on me, but I am still throwing a fly.
“Yes Virginia there are ORTHOPEDIC SURGEONS”

Congratulations. Duke undergrad and Med school are both the best. At least she was extra smart and didn’t go the Tarheel route.

Brag away Ken. That is fantastic. Congratulations to the whole family, especially your daughter for all the hard work to reach such an achievement.

Everyone,

Thanks for the kind words…they are appreciated. Just got home from Durham…13 hr trip that normally takes 10 hrs…lousy weather all the way home…heavy rain and storms…just like commencement yesterday. I got just a little choked up…and still am. My daughter is headed home tomorrow for a few day to unwind, and then she’s headed back down to Durham on Sunday to start her research job on Monday. I’ve enclosed a couple of photos…one of the soggy ceremonies and one of her receiving her diploma for her Biological Anthro and Anatomy degree. I understand her History diploma will be mailed. All these awarding of diploma ceremonies were supposed to be held outdoors, so the last minute arrangements to bring them indoors were hectic to say the least. If you’re all wondering where her mortarboard is…it fell apart due to the rain  Thanks again…and yeah…I’m still bragging

That is so very very cool…

Again congratulations her and to all involved with her life…

Way to go!

Steve Molcsan

We all share in the pride you have in this youngter.

Ken, a very hearty Congrats!

(Joe and rest of NBOF - Beware of offers to participate in research… Biological Anthropology & Anatomy… I don’t like the sound of that…)

Ed, dragging his (very impressed) knuckles…

Wow! Man tell your daughter for me congratulations. What a wonderful profession she has chosen. I’m proud just to know someone who’s daughter has applied herself in that fashion and won such an honor. Magna cum laude… Wow! Too Cool

PS I need both knees replaced. Can you put in a good word for me?
