Hard to believe its time to start up another swap of the month. For June - seems to me we have done a lot of trout flies this year and yet we have a number of warm water fishermen in this group. So, lets do your favorite blue gill fly. Whatever size, style, etc. you want to tie.

John,
At the first Michigan Fish In the fish just stopped biting, and somebody said the fish needed to see something different. I took ideas from several different flies about 4 I think and came up with something that the fish liked for awhile, and it made a good bluegill fly I called it “The Something Different” I’ll do it in a size 18. I post a Pic of it when I get a little time this weekend, right now I have to head for a "Sleep(less) study tonite, My second they are going to “Fit” me with a “CPAP”… Fun &Games:)

I think I’ll do something with foam and flash , a Bluegill Special.

I will let folks choose a Goldie Jr, a boa fly, or a fur tailed mohair leech.

Rick

I would like to participate! Is it still open?
Thanks!

is there room for 1 more ? if so i would love to be in this one

What’s a blue gill?

Great now I need to go find a gill pond and see what flies will work. Heh  Anybody know a lake/pond around here that needs some gills fished out? Heh What if I tie up a fly that works well for perch? I have those! heh

Gonna have to do some “research” on this one. heh

I’m also open to ideas…

Paul

I’m new to all this so, I’m not sure I have a favorite crappie fly. I have read that crappie’s like minnows. I’ll offer a black nosed dace #8.

Blue Gill? Never heard off in Europe, I’m sorry to say. But I think any appetizing flie will do. I’ll ty a gold head dog nobler.
Sjo

My pattern for June will be a small Stealth Bomber, if that dont work a Hair Mara Slider

JOHN R, Check your P.M. I just got yours today.

Put me down for a black Pom-Pom Spider.

John,
Here’s a pic of the “Original” Somethin Different and the Warm Water Version.

Hey Rick,

I’d vote for a mohair leech - only because I’ve never seen one.

John

Mohair leech is my vote.

Ok I’m going to tie some sort of foam gurgler. Probably a double gurgler (using two different colors of foam).

Main reason is this would have been a great pattern to have yesterday while I was doing some warmwater fishing.

Will try to get colors and size finalized this evening.

John,
Flies are done and will go out tommorow with the May Flies.

I’ll have to think about it, I have tied 2 swaps worth of my favorite bluegill flies already this year, along with the ones for myself… getting a bit tired of tying them… I’ll let you know in a couple days…

Finshed my flies and a surprise for Bill. I should have them in the mail next week. I’m really looking forward to seeing the results of the May swap. (I’ve never seen a toe tag attached to a fly!)

Flies went in the mail today. Everyone gets the black furl tailed mohair leech. Also included a red one so you can tell me how it works for you.
