You might want to save Joe from the addiction of using various flies. He used to be so happy just using the Hares Ears, and now look what is happening to him.
He jsut might have to get a vice & all of that other stuff and tie some flies.
“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.” Keep doing what you’re doing. Do not, I repeat, do not get into tying your own flies. It is an addiction to be sure. And can be quite maddening at times. You’re much better off just letting Rick resupply your fly box. Ha!
I’ve got dozens…dozens?..no, probably HUNDREDS of flies that I’ve either bought or been given. What I NEED to do is start casting these flies into impossibly heavy cover just so I can lose some of 'em.
I’m afraid if I ever get into tying, within a month I’ll have to rent a second self-storage unit.
When the weather warms up, you Rick and I ought to get together at his place for some pond fishing. Of course we’ll show up with empty fly boxes and let him fill em up. Ha!
One more box of flies and my canoe will become a submarine.
And I dearly love pond fishing, but what would be equally fun is to fish that lake Rick’s always talking about, the one full of cookie-cutter 10-inch crappies that he catches by the dozens? I would just about WALK to Iowa to fish a place like that.
Jeez, you’re putting me on the spot here. I think I’m using weight forward 2-wt. line.
Yes, memory has kicked in; that’s what I’m using, 2-wt.
I did buy a spool of double taper 1-wt. line from Yager’s recently, but haven’t put it on the reel yet.
That’s because, well, I’m looking very hard at buying a 0-wt. (or even the 00-wt.) Sage rod. Whichever weight Sage I get – if I do get one – I’ll overline it, using that DT-1-F line.
Hate to pirate this thread, but I’d love to be there just to see the caravan of Old Duffers with their hand-out buckets who follow Rick to his fishing holes! JGW
