Jim;
Great job as always. A lowcountry get together up in your area would be great.
Jalama,
Try the Ocean Kayak Drifter sit on top.
Loved my little 8’9 Kiwi wide bottom yak. I kind of hatted to give it up recently to the little lady to use because as soon as she moved in with me she decided she wanted it for fishing for herself. The good news is she is leting me go and buy a new one for myself. They have come along way since the one I used for so many years. I had to build my own anchor system and rod holding system and it had no storage unit at all since it was only a basic inexpensive rec model but I loved it any ways. They did not have fishing models that I know of 10 years or so ago when I got it.
This time I plan to buy something a little more made for fishing and maybe something a little longer in length.
Plan to start shopping for the new yak in the next few weeks to find what I like.
Jim,
Thanks for the invite. I’m going to take you up on your offer sometime. I’d love to get down that way and fish some of your water. From the photos you post it looks beautiful. But I still say you should be ashamed of yourself, having a “job” like that. You are ashamed of yourself------aren’t you?
bill 1277
that is a fine looking boat, have you had any experience with it??
Hey Robert,
No sir, I’m not a bit ashamed. Someone
has gotta do it.G You’ll be pleased to
know that job goes away on 31 May of this
year. However, on 1 June, I get a new title
and a substantial raise, a crew, and 100k
to play with. I’ll be developing a series
of cabins and treehouses to go with the
paddling trails.G Again, someone has to
do it. They just didn’t know it till I
convinced them.G Warm regards, Jim
Money and time are both limiting factors. Just when were you thinking of a S-C fish-in? I’d love to come, as I’ve told you in the past. Let me know, Jim. By the way, I thought I was really pleased with my “system” with my cedar strip canoe, now you’re making me feel bad. In this case the limiting time is money. Funny how some people feel they’re one and the same. JGW
Hi JGW,
While my initial comment on a Kayak Fish
In on the Santee Cooper lakes was intended
to be tongue in cheek, perhaps it deserves
more reasoned consideration. If there is
interest in one, it is entirely possible to
make it happen. It could involve a single
participant other than myself or as many as
care to come. There are in fact
several areas providing for free primitive
camping in close proximity to good fishing
here. Access by canoe or kayak is very
practical. Perhaps a show of hands of
interested parties, preferred time frames,
and any other considerations you might have would be prudent at this time. Things like this just happen in the South. Not a lot of planning and forethought required other
than ensuring ample food, adult beverages,
ice and TP is on hand. FYI, a 7 day permit
for non-residents is $11.00 and readily
available. Warm regards, Jim
Jim,
A show of hands? Ok, I’ve got mine in the air. Like John W. though, that’s a long way and I’d have to check my calendar. My heart’s willing but I couldn’t commit 'till the time came. I know I could come if you’d think about hiring me as your assistant to help you with your, shall we call it, “job”. You know I’m always kidding you, I hope, about your job? I know you’re giving it all you’ve got and it is a very valuable service you provide. I’m just jealous.
Robert
