Jed, nice piece of work

Loved your writing piece and hope to fish with you again.

The Stripers are still hitting on the backside of the cape.

Jed, … Excellent read !

Thanx, … Nice to image too, … seeing as we got our first BLIZZARD last night

Thank you friends. Having fished with both of you I know that we all share a similar view about fishing. Glad you enjoyed the read.

I still laugh about fishing or spending time with Chris on the Ste. Margaurite. Here he came to meet Joan and me, fish and maybe answer a question or two about what effects the fishing in the river. Joan peppered Chris, (almost assaulted and peppered him) with question after question on a list that started with Salmon and Trout, went on to macro-invertibrates, birds, other flaura and fauna, onto logging and old-growth forests, stopped briefly in discussion about tourism and of course included a few words related to Quebec politics. That meal and the discussion was worth the trip alone. It is right up there with the fishing. I had fun, and did not even need to get the toes of my boots wet to call it an enjoyable day.

In fact, I just stopped to think about the last time I fished with anyone (youth excluded)who really cared about the size or number of fish they caught. It goes back a number of years.

Hey Jed, …

Well, … meeting Joan and yourself this past summer was really one of the highlights of the season for me too.

It was refreshing to talk with Joan about natural resouces. She had a REAL interest, … not some hidden sinister agenda (such as many of the so called “interested parties” who lurk about now (ever see a “resource company” with more LAWYERS than foresters?).

Tight lines.

Hey Jed,
Very nicely writ.
Your thesis “it’s not about the fish” however, reminds me of an Andy Capp cartoon that once brought a chuckle. Andy is walking home, the usual cap over the eyes and perpetual butt in his mouth, fishin pole on his shoulder. As he passes his friend, the friend asks " didja catch anything Andy?“, " No says Andy, but fishin’s not all about catchin”. “Hmmmmm , nicely lied Andy”. " Thank you" says Andy and continues on.

Mark

Yes Marco, I must agree. There is the yin and yang of fishing. I doubt that we would fish if there were no fish. I’ve always enjoyed Andy’s view of the world.
