JC Memorial Raffle Quilt

I have finally finished the Heron wall quilt for the raffle. There were a LOT of pieces in this quilt, and a lot of quilting, and thread painting to complete it. I hope you all enjoy it!

You can see the quilt on my blog at:

I loved working on this quilt and almost hate to give it up, you can bet that I will be buying raffle tickets!

Jean,

That is STUNNING!!! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I must admit, my jaw actually dropped open when I saw your quilt. As much as I’d love to have that quilt to hang on the wall, I really hope you win it.

Fantastic job!

Hey Jean,
No small endeavour. Truly a demonstration of your artistic talent.

Fantastic…I saw the early stages at the fish-in but didn’t visualize the end result. That belongs in a museum.

My compliments to the seamstress. Very beautiful work!

Really nice Jean.

Hey Jean,
Since it’s apparently a SLOW day for compliments, it’s what I said before, plus, WHAT A GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO THE MEMORY OF A REAL NICE GUY WHO ALWAYS BEAT ME TO THE LAST ORDER OF PERCH DINNER AT GATES LODGE. I assure you I will buy “several” tickets but YOUR name will appear on them. I win, YOU win.

Mark

Marco,

i will definitely be buying tickets as well. Thank you all for the kind words. I have a deep love for all animals, but water birds are at the top of my list, followed by raptors. I love to do landscape quilts and to add animals and birds to them, to give the quilt a life of it’s own.

I took a couple of close-ups of the “Thread Painting” Detail here’s the link to see them.

Wow!!! Jean, you done a great job with that quilt! Who’da thunk it from all those “scraps” of material we saw at the Fish-In? I mean, I have a pretty good imagination, but I didn’t envision anything that comes up to the quality or look of this!

Beautiful.

Be sure to click on the image, you can see the detail very well.

This in no small feat!

I’m not sure what type of lights Bill used when he took the close ups of the heron. The feathers on the chest showed up yellow, but they’re actually a gray blue color. He did get a better shot of the texture of the feather’s than I did. Of course he probably used his camera, which is better than the point and shoot one I have.

I don’t have the patience for the fancier camera. I showed the quilt tonight at my guild and everyone loved it. The quilt show chairmen definitely would like to have it in the show on Oct. 17 & 18.
