Quite “interesting history” and MAY just explain why Ed chose “A troll”, to describe poor J.H.!?!
(quoted from a history web site:)
"By the 1960s the Dammit Dolls were becoming known as troll dolls. The original dolls created by Thomas Dam were made of wood and were intended to represent the elves of Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore. Apparently, these elves were quite ugly because the original Dammit Dolls were even more ghastly than the plastic troll dolls of today. In fact, if you ever get the opportunity to see one of the original Dammit Dolls based on Thomas Dam’s model you may be taken aback. The faces bear a distinctly more simian look than modern day troll dolls. In fact, Thomas Dam’s originals look more like George W. Bush than Legolas".(end quote)
No Doug, I’m much more handsome than that! Standing in a stream I would look more like an Orvis advertisment! Some day I hope to share my “Stardom” with my lessor friends!! Brad Pitt move over I’m coming through!!
Mike;
Please help me, with this, as my eyes suddenly glazed over… did he TRULY say… “Brad Pitt, move over, I’m coming through”?? “Standing in a stream, I look like an Orvis advertisement!” ??
THIS, from a man, that practices “Kick and Release”, trout fishing?
Jack,
I’m sure it has nothing to do with you getting to fish EVERY day, while the rest of us freeze! Our ice won’t even get thick enough to cut a hole! Can you at least complain a little? Like, “My Arm Is Getting Tired From Casting!” Stuff like that!
Thanks,
Doug
I don’t think that he can hear you, Tim. The sorry so-and-so is off fishing again. It’s above freezing, don’t you know…
Yeah, it’s a real pity about some folks what ain’t got the good sense to move to a place that has year-round fishing. Even at 29F, I have a friend that was wading for skipjack herring. He kept getting pesky wipers eating his streamers all day. Poor fella.
Now I’m in a quandry what to do later this week. Skipjack (& wipers) at the steam plant? Stripers in the lake? Trout? 'gills and bass? Decisions, decisions… I guess maybe I could try to do ALL of the above…
Well, thankfully, living here at the beach I won’t have to fret as much as you do, Poor Ed… I’m either going Steelhead fishing later, this morning, or…maybe some trout will be order, around noon, after a nice nappy!!!
If I had the same options I think I would chose all of the above. Unfortunately it is16 degrees here in Northwest Indiana.
I guess I will have to be happy with running up to Bass Pro Shop for open tying night from 6:30 till 9:00. Who knows one of these days I might get that Elk Hair Caddis right. I am having a hell of time with the hair, to much , not enough, spinning around the hook shank. Practice Practice Practice.
Or I could stay home and hope the wife goes out so I can clip some hair off the kitten as I am in the pet fur fly swap and need to make a dozen Fat Cat Soft Hackles. She caught me trying to clip the kitten last night and it was not pretty.
