J.C.'s double haul video and article........

Thank you, Jim. I thought the double haul was some technique I was missing and needed to study. Turns out I have been doing it all along. Go figure, it’s a natural part of my casting. Once again the casting master has saved me form making a big mistake with my casting.
Many thanks and attaboys for the video and article. Well done!

BTW since I don’t need the machine that is one sale you missed. Again, thanks for the smile.

Eric,

JC is some caster. I watched that main screen for a few minutes and every

H.motion is identical to the previous one! Shows you that repitition builds consistency  .

It does seem picture perfect doesn’t it? He has worn out my video card and lcd monitor.

Perhaps its my computer but I only see the video at light speed.

I did pick up on the fact that JC pulls down on the forward stroke and toward himself on the back stroke which aligns the line to the rod. Something I had not noticed before. Now if I could just get him to slow down… :?

I can’t watch… I keep thinking he’s gonna have a stroke!!

LOL

Dare I say it , I think Marvin is having a little too much influence on Castwell. He is starting to resemble a robot!

Is there any way it can be slowed down? Doing it at that speed is too much ! Jim Clarke

i assume he’s using a VERY fast action rod in the video

Jim should be willing to slow it down, as its not a video, rather its a live web cast. Every time someone hits the home page for FAOL, Jim gets a small signal and he quickly stands up and starts casting. The reason he seems so consistent is that he used to be the drummer in the Jimmie Hendrix band. Its a little known fact about our man JC.

His arm will be pretty sore in a few days and he’ll stop at that point.

Nice job Jim!

I’m probably on of the few who when they saw D.H.D immediately thought that it meant “Dial Home Device”. For those not in the know this is a term used in the SciFi Network television show Stargate SG-1 and it’s spin-off Stargate: Atlantis.

I did however find the article and the associated video interesting, though as others have noted the video goes much too fast.

Timing is everything in casting of any type, if one cannot see the motions in an analytical way one cannot benefit by watching…Jim Clarke

are you serious?

Actually it is all in the hair. Everything else is in constant motion. The hair never changes position relative to the forehead. It is the anchor point of the stroke.

Of course I am serious !! One cannot concentrate on both hands at once.If it were slower one could mentally analyse the whole procedure. I would also like to know what lenght of line was in the air at the time…Jim Clarke

 Come clean JC. I ask you,“Are you serious?” I do not see the DHD in the video. So before the ink dries on my check for the East of The Rockies price, just say,“Gocha!”

I got the point. Gadgets are no substitute for good technique and practice.

Of course I’m serious. One cannot separate the actions at that speed. The hands are faster than the eye.I would also like to know what lenght of line was out at the time…Jim Clarke

It is gentlemen such as you who consistently reinforce my opinion of mankind. Shrewd to proffer that without the exact length of line being included the film was pointless. It does please me that many have indeed found the DHD to be of a high degree of usefulness. I am sure I will be given the appropriate accolades concerning such. To the thousands of respondents, 'It was my pleasure and obligation to bring you anything that will assist your casting acumen. I have ‘upped’ my casting skills, now, ‘up yours’.

I believe the DHD moves you to the top of Ladyfisher’s list of todays best flyfishers. All others pale by comparison.
