It's What's For Dinner

Here’s a shot of our Thanksgiving Dinner. It was dinner for two, and we have lots of leftovers. Cornish Game Hens in a Dutch Oven. I called them the world’s smallest turkeys in a pot. They were made with potatoes, carrots, onions & cabbage. We also had biscuits and a Mediterranean salad. For desert was cherry pie with vanilla ice cream. Man, am I full. Happy Thanksgiving.

Simple yet elegant. Glad you had a great day, and will get to relive it tomorrow in the form of leftovers.

We had a food fest at my brother’s home from 1-9p.m… 23 people for dinner and nobody went hungry. Great food and great company. My wife made green bean casserole and I made Challah bread as our contribution.

Joe

How wonderful. Love the bean dish. We pigged out too, turkey plus trimmings; punkin’ pie time soon.

Joe, the meal looks great. Who made those biscuits? My wife wants to know where you got the placemats.

RG, my bet is that his wife made them. She’s quite the quilter. Even had her sewing machine and quilting supplies at a Lowell Fish-In. Very talented lady.

Bloody hell. I had spagetti with sauce from the freezer. Yippee.:frowning:

Joe and Linda, that meal takes me back to the day in 2005 you took in a hungry stranger. It was out in front of your motel room at Lowell Idaho. We sat out in the parking lot on motel chairs around a card table feasting on Dutch oven Cornish game hens, Potatoes, onions and Coffee. During the meal you remembered that you had forgotten the carrots. I forgave you for the carrots with a satisfied burp and an excuse myself for the social faux pas. No man was ever treated to a finer meal than that one, delicious. It cemented a fine friendship. I will never forget that day. Your picture sure took me right back as if it were yesterday.

For those who don’t know. Joe is an awesome Dutch oven cook and Linda is the queen of the quilting bees.

PS My meal for tonight was an A&W teenburger and a root beer. Thanksgiving was in September here In Canada.

RG/AR, and Ron,
You guessed it Ron. Linda made it. If you look real close you’ll see that it is a table runner and not place mats. I have a small cutting board placed upside down in the middle to put the hot dutch oven on.

Joe -

You guys are a model of restraint. Wish I had exercised some yesterday !! ( I did exercise, but it surely wasn’t restraint. )

I was already looking forward to next September on the Selway. Maybe we could move it up a few months ??
