It's not a Fly Rod but the first one off the bench for a while....

I haven’t posted any rods for a while. It’s been a struggle to get them off the bench.

This is a Military rod for my Uncle Dale. It’s built on a 2pc MHX casting blank with a light action for Trout and bass. Uncle Dale wanted “Something Different” so I wrapped it with a Roberts or Acid wrap. This takes the line of guides from the top side of the rod and swings it around to the bottom eliminating the torque you experience when fighting a fish on a bait casting or spin casting rod where the reel is on top of the rod rather than hanging off the bottom.

The guides are wrapped with Red NCP tipped with gold, the Marine colors. The butt has the EGA inset in it. Just above the grip is his name and the emblem of the 1st Marine Division that he served with in Korea as well as the rod nomenclature. Ahead of that are his service ribbons.

Not to bad Kevin, not to bad at all my friend.

You still got it Kevin

Very nice Kevin, I used to have an acquaintenance in Alabama who built rods with the guides placed as you descripted, did not know what it was called.

those wraps are perfection. not too much epoxy and absolutely smooth.

Looks good!

Nice one Kev he will love it I’m sure!

Kevin,

Very nicely done, and nice to see you at it again.

Regards,

Gandolf

It’s good to get something out as well. I have been way behind in getting stuff out but things are finally looking up.
