IT'S DOLPHIN TIME!!

Well, thankfully within the past 48 hours the Dolphin have showed themselves in signifigant numbers off the Keys. Looks like we timed this trip PERFECTLY

By Saturday afternoon I’ll be settling into a rented house on Lower Matecumbe Key - YIPPEE!! Target for the next 7 days will be the BIG Slammer Dolphin which are migrating through. In the past 48 hours they have shown in large numbers with some real pigs in the 40 and 50lb class. They are a month late but at least they rolled in just in time.

I have a van loaded with my T&T rods and Islander reels spooled with the new PArtridge fly lines and lots of great flies I’ve been cranking out. With any luck I’l have some pictures of some monsters on the fly to post this week.

On top of the perfect fish timing, the weather (KNOCK ON WOOD) has shaped up and looks picture perfect. The other target is the mass of Tarpon that are all over right now. Plus my wife and 2 boys are along for the fun. Can it get any better?! I don’t think so.

Stay tuned . . . .

If it has fins and swims than I must chase it!

Oh, I am jealous! Went on a gulf stream charter out of Hattaras, NC a few years ago (July) & while our dolphin were only 6-9 lbs, & caught on the charters’ “too heavy” tackle, all I could think about was fighting those babies on the fly rod! They are some kind of acrobatic!..Have a ball! (I KNOW you will).
