I caught the biggest rainbow of my life today (not counting steelhead).
I suppose I have seen bigger in stocked ponds but never caught or seen one this big in public water. I’m having it mounted. Joking. I let it go.
First fish of the new year will be a hard one to top.

Benjo, I used to work at a sporting goods store in Bozeman (the same one you have out behind the mall there in town). We had a framed photo of each of us with a big fish behind the fly counter. Had a guy come in one day and look at my picture, then at me, then at my picture. He asked me if that was a local fish, and I told him yes. He asked me if I had it mounted, and I said no, of course not. He was flabbergasted that I wouldn’t have kept it and had it mounted. So I asked him “Then what do I do when I catch a bigger one?”

What a gorgeous fish, Benjo. The picture of you holding this brute and the smile on your face says it all. I’m happy for you.
