I have come into possession of a Common Sense Fly Wallet. I’m not sure if it’s vintage or not, but it appears to be one of those used many years ago. Has leader pockets, a two-page drying patch and several pages for snelled type fly storage. The wallet is about 7-inches by 4-inches and fastens with a leather strap and buckle. It has a fish and the name “Common Sense” embossed in gold on the front. It is in mint, unused condition. I bought it thinking it would be a cool leader storage wallet, but as I’ve looked into it I may have stumbled onto an antique, but I’m not sure. It is in such excellent/new condition that I just thought it was something still being produced.
I did a simple web search for “Common Sense Fly Wallet” and what I saw was all over the place. There were several versions apparently and the wallets were made as early as 1913. There was nothing to indicate they are still being made. The one you described would be one of the earlier ones and at most places I saw is valued at about $85.
After further searching, I found they were made by K&L Company here in the USA. I could find no record of this company beyond the one site that mentioned them as the manufacturer.
