Hi,
My wife, as we were camping last weekend, saw a group next to us take out an inflatable boat from their RV and use it in the ocean. She, “gee, we could get one of those to take to Maine”. After I picked my jaw up, I realized here was my chance to get a boat to take on fishing trips! So, any experiences with the Sea Eagle raft type? They have a sale and a 180 (Whoo HOO) free trial period. Pros, cons fishing usage?
Thanks,
Mike
Mike, I have an 11.5’ metzler maya sea quality raft with a wood transom for up to a 10 hp motor. It is an older raft I inherited from an uncle who used it with his 28’ sailboat in southern Cal. I have never used it on the ocean but have on several lakes here in Wyoming, with a 5 hp motor, a trolling motor and just oars and have loved it. Have seen several Sea Eagles and a couple of other brands mostly on the river below Flaming Gorge and the Sea Eagle brand seem to be well liked. The outfitter quality ones are probably more expensive and more cumbersome so I say GO FOR IT!! Mine fishes very well, even standing up sometimes, though I don’t do that very often.
I am seriously looking at the new Sea Eagle twin pontoon rafts that are out now!!
