In the tying "groove"

I know I’m there when I can get the right tilt and spread on dry fly tails pretty much every time without having to back off wraps and re-position the hackle fibers. The rest of the fly may make the trout laugh as it floats by, but the tail holds up it’s end of the bargain.

I’m there when the 1st pinch between the thumbs spreads the comparadun hair 180deg perfectly on the 1st try:^)

I’m there when I completely forget about time when I’m at the bench.

I know when I am there when I can build married wet fly wings and set them perfect fly after fly.
