I'm not answering my phone until November 5th. (quite probably a political rant)

I am sick and tired of call after call from robots and telemarketers hired by political parties.

If you call, I won’t answer. The phone is off until next month.

If you leave me a message, I will quite possibly vote against whatever or whomever you are representing. It depends on how annoying your message is (at least the first three seconds of it, which is all I will hear).

I value my privacy, and you are violating it. I have a brain, I can think for myself, I do not need you calling me at home and trying to change my opinions. If I wanted your input, I would call YOU.

I would dearly love to see the official Do Not Call rules extended to all organizations, including political ones. I WILL vote for that when it hits the ballot.

PS. May the deity of your choice help you if you come to my door and try this.

Try e-mailing the candidate’s office or the local office if it’s a Presidential candidate and voice your displeasure there.

I’ve done it a few times and it worked; they stopped!

I have only a cell phone - They come with caller ID - if the caller is not in my contacts I don’t answer.

Got rid of the home phone when I went to High Speed Internet - the savings pays for my high speed Internet.

easy fix:

Ray,
Doesn’t work for us.

DG,
Bamboozle has the right idea only tell them if they call you one more time you will vote or the other guy. Unfortunately sometimes you have to get a little ugly with these folks. Fight fire with fire buddy.

Calling the offices would take up more of my time than turning off the phone has. And I get calls from EVERYONE, as an unaffiliated voter. Six or seven a day most days. Few of them from real people.

And Ray, political organizations are not required to use the do not call list, only telemarketers. Imagine that.

DG

THIS IS A GENERAL RANT, AND NOT DIRECTED AT ANY INDIVIDUAL POSTING TO THIS THREAD. I JUST GOTTA GET THIS OFF MY CHEST.

We have no stones in this country, plain and simple. We elect people to office then allow us to trample all over us by creating laws which put a burden either on us directly, or our employers or suppliers of goods and services, then WE allow them to exempt themselves from those laws. The Do Not Call list is a prime example of this. Every politician now has a playground from which every other organization has been banned (under penalty of law), and from which they can annoy us for months on end. And we are foolish enough to allow this go on, and even more foolish when we send the same foxes back into the henhouse.

Until we demand accountability from our elected officials, and until we start removing these deaf leeches from perpetual office and replacing them with people who will genuinely represent their constituency, we have no right to post complaints like this thread. America, we have allowed ourselves to be duped, and we’re too lazy and gutless to pull ourselves away from out TV’s and hit the pavement to start a grass-roots program of systematically removing these over-burdening politicians and taking back our rights that these politicians on both sides of the aisle who removed them from us. In every other country in the world, including the most politically oppressed, the people take to the streets to voice their displeasure with political oppression. Hell, I remember years ago the French farmers drove their tractors up the steps of government buildings to draw attention to some form of mistreatment they were receiving from the government. When was the last time we did that here? In America we pop another beer, curse the TV, and change the channel. We deserve the treatment we get and we have no room to complain until we demand change. Remember this in a couple of weeks when you go to the polls. Ask your self what your elected representative has done for YOU lately, then decide who gets your vote.

Joe

AMEN Joe, I’m with you 100%.

OH by the way Joe, Happy B-Day!

J.

Count me in on the “fire 'em all” movement. The last several elections, I’ve voted against the guy/gal who’s alerady in there every time (except once when the challenger was a well known scoundrel). As far as I’m concerned, I think they are ALL liars, beggers and thieves.

It never fails to amaze me how these boozos can make promises in the campaign, then the day after the election forget everything they said the months before and people STILL VOTE FOR THEM election after election.

I’m going to run for office in the next election. My motto - “Vote for Jeff, he can’t be any worse”.

The BEST birthday present I’m getting this year is the end of the political commercials and calls. My birthday is the day after the election.

Jeff

Joe -

Your rant strikes me as a very POLITICAL rant, which violates the guidelines of this Bulletin Board.

John

I for one dont mind the calls…

I have had both parties call already…

this is what I did…LOL

Simple tell them what they dont want to hear…

for the (R)… your going (D)
for the (D)… your going (R)

You’re voting the other way…

all they say is “Oh… thanks for you time”
