So I am having fun hosting my first swap which has so far been such a great success that I was thinking about hosting another one. Here is my idea:
You know the old cliche, what would you bring with you if you were stuck on a desert island? So assume you have your beer and whatever other essentials you have including your favorite rod: lo and behold, this island has a beautiful trout stream…you don’t know anything else about it, it seems to have a standard range of hatches, temperatures and trout…what 10 FLIES must you bring?
Thats what it is…lets swap your 10 flies, that you wouldn’t go anywhere without no matter the location or the season, no other limits, just 10 DIFFERENT flies. What I will do is switch around all the boxes so each person will get someone else’s entire go-to box.
Lets try for 12 tiers, I can open this to more tiers if there is interest.
Also remember, you won’t get your box back so send a box you don’t mind giving away.
All other rules apply, send a self addressed stamped enevelope etc…
Flies dues by May 1st.
Lets go get em!!!
If it is ok I would like to get in on this one, with the following 10 flies. If I am right 12 tiers send in a total of 10 flies right. I will send in the following flies.
Mini Wooly Bugger
Montana Nymph
Black Lady’s Fish Finder
Green Weenie
Pull Back Nymph
Orange Soft Hackle
Trojan Midge
Easy Cassed Caddis
Green Foam Hopper
Lady Bug
I hope I have this one figured right. Thanks for a good idea for a swap. John
Welcome aboard John. Looks like a great collection.
Thats right, no matter how many swappers we have you just tie 10 flies since all ten of your flies will be given to one other swapper.
Any questions just ask!
hey clodev, welcome aboard. I don’t need the names of the flies. Just remember, 10 DIFFERENT flies that you MUST have wherever you would be, in a box that you don’t mind not seeing back.
All other rules apply.
You can post the 10 flies as an interesting reference for readers.
welcome aboard Flyrodde.
If there is a huge amount of interest. I am all for opening the swap a little larger, since the amount of tiers doesn’t effect how many flies you need to tie.
