If you only had one fly for trout what would it be? All I need is a Klinkh?mer…

While some may not consider it a fly I would take a White Zonker # 4
Aw shucks, no need for me to be “smeetest” (as it were), I’ll just go with my ol’ Wooley Bugger in whatever version I happen to have tied the most of the night before.
Snow on the roof with fire in the hearth
Easy!
The SHWAPF!!!
Thanks Al!

Oh, I’m out there baby! And I’m loving every minute of it!
#6 Clouser Minnow on Green-Pearl Krystal Flash. I can fish everywhere with it.
Rocketfish
The Teeny Nymph
Make mine a parachute adams, sz. 16…
Renegade. I’ll fish it dry or wet.
Don
Second would definately be SHWAPF. I gotta make me one of them fly boxes like Al’s with nothin else in there!
Since you can sink a dry but not float most wets …make mine the stimulator.
size 16 flashback pheasant tail. Fish seem to come out of the woodwork for this fly
only one fly for the rest of my life?? thats a tough choice round here…
i guess id have to go with a #18 Prince Nymph since it searches well enough to be successful in most waters i fish.
One fly, OMG!
Without question, it would be a #8 black wooly bugger, unweighted but fished with a sinking tip line. 8T
You had better learn to be a happy camper. You only get one try at this campground and it’s a real short camping season.
16 rio grande king
#16 EHC
SHWAPF, close second. -Yaf
Jax Spent Roughy. I always thought there was no other fly. “G”
Only one fly?! That would take all the fun out of things. I guess I would go with a simple hare and partridge softhackle. Can fish it as a nymph, wetfly, or even a dry.
Though I wonder, who would be so bold as to leave the house with only one fly? I get enough teasing at work about my fish stories, so I need an “I only had one fly and…” story like I need another hole in my head.
Have fun, Jeff
And may all of our fly boxes have more than one fly!!!
Muddler. Works in lakes and streams. Can be stripped or swung. It even makes a decent dry fly. As a bonus it also catches steelhead.
Jay
If I was restricted to one fly pattern,
it’d be a Bead Head Prince.
If I was restricted to one fly,
I’d go with something that would
hold up better. Maybe a Club Sandwich.
What do they use at that One Fly Tournament in Wyoming?

For a wet fly, a black beadhead bugger.
For dry, tan or cinnamom elk hair caddis.
