Idaho Fish-In Personal Itinerary

For those who are interested, Lady Lotech and I have an itinerary for the Idaho Fish-In.

I will be bringing most of my fly rods and my entire fly tying stuff. We will be staying in one of the river front cabins and plan on arriving sometime Monday afternoon. We will be staying until sometime Saturday.

I plan on spending some time in the meeting room tying and sharing some stories about the rivers. (read lies) When I go fishing it will be for 2-3 hours in the morning and 2-3 hours in the evening. The rest of the time you can find me in my cabin or in the meeting room.

My wife Linda, (Lady Lotech) will have 1 or 2 sewing machines with her and will be quilting most of the time. She would love to share her time with whoever is interested in quilting.

Anyone who would like to attend my lying sessions sessions would be most welcome.

C?YA THERE!

Joe,
This one of the Best Posts you have ever done!!!
I can feel your excitement!!!

Forgive me, I’m out of the loop. Where in Idaho will this be?

Stan & I plan on bringing Richard Komar (Texas) & arriving about noonisyh on Sunday. JC & LF have mailed me the banner so will have it at the front of our tent camper. The sign in sheet will be there on the table, hoping all attending will sign it.
We hosts, REE, VEE, Les Young and myself have somethings planned.

I asked JC if he would put on his casting demo in his Superman outfit. I am sure JC will help anyone wanting some tuning up or learn a few tricks from him. LF may not be casting but do not count out her help. These two are tops for teaching casting. Not sure of the day or time. All scheduling will be done after we all get there and will try to work things in around all the fishing.

Of course we will have the casting accuracy contest. I’m not sure what I will give as a first prize.

There will be a distance casting contest but again I am not sure of how we will run it this year or what we will have for the winner.

We have the Rumpas room for getting together and tying. Also a table will be set up for all to place items they want to trade or sell.

Friday night Z will have a nice Bar B Que set up. Pot luck. Cook your own steak on the community fire. Bring and share whatever else you want to share for eats. Might be a good idea to bring your own plates and tools.

One night I plan on demo how we process. Yes, am bringing one of the “New color” birds. Be advised it is not something some will not want to watch. I will sell it after the demo. Be prepared to be awakened early each AM to the sound of a rooster crowing. We did it several years ago and wes well received by almost all.

VEE will have something fly fishing related set up for any of the Ladies to attend. (tying if desired/ perhaps casting and even fishing in a special spot she knows. Last year we had 11 Ladies. Looks as if we will have more this week. This is put on for the Women, by the women, no buttting in by the guys.

Anyone wanting info on where to fish should talk to Les Young, Z & Dennis Garrison (aka Cookie Monster) CM will be more willing to help anyone who provides him w/cookies (homemade is his thing)

I would think some will go down River at least one day to try for the Metal Heads. (Talk to REE )

I personally do not like to have things too structured.

Lets fish and have a good week.

Denny

answer to the above post by SquatchHunter:

Click on the Fish In menu on the front page, then click on the ID FI, lots of info and photos from previous years. Come on down and join us.

SquatchHunter,

It will be in Lowell, Idaho, right where the Lochsa and Selway meet to form the Clearwater. Great fishing, great company and plenty of tall tales. Who could ask for more.

REE

It sounds like good fun. I will see what the finances dictate when the time comes.

hummmm… fishing… friends… BOO!!.. and a burnt steaks… who could ask for more??

I’ll be there friday PM

Z

I will be rolling in around lare afternoon on Saturday…gotta fish the Lochsa a bit on the way down from Lolo Pass. Other than my schedule is wide open this year. I have decided to forgoe the usuall two or three nights camped out on the Upper Selway. Since my Dad cant backpack right now after all of his recent health issues, I thought it would be better to fish along the roads.

Joe: My Mom is planning on going again and she would love to spend some time with Linda. I know she really enjoyed it last year and is looking forward to it again.

Denny: It sounds like you have done an excellent job in planning things. I personally look forward to seeing how you process a bird. And for those interested, the new color he will be selling is awesome. I got a full skin recently and absolutely love it…tying some EHC for Lowell with it as we speak

SquatchHunter: This will be my fourth trip over there and it is great. It’s about six hours drive from Boze so its not too bad. I break it up and fish the Lochsa on the way in and headed out also.

Thanks Mark,
Linda was seriously hoping Rosemary (your mom) would be there this time around. Do you know if she is planning on bringing some quilting stuff? Whatever she wants is fine.

I hope to do some fishing.
Looking forward to renewing friendships and making new ones.
Watching the fly tying.
Guitars, beer and the camp fire.

Has anyone stayed in the RV park at Three Rivers in the last few months… We will be bringing a large 5th wheel to the fly-in and the park has had some reviews that were pretty bad. I’m not real picky, the negatives were high…Papa

Papa Elf,

We had the first Idaho Fish In back in 2002. We have had one at three Rivers each year since. I have personally attended all but one year that I had another commitment. When the main Fish In was moved to the Mid West I felt the fishing and Resort (everyone in one camp ground) was too good to stop. I got permission from JC & LF to host a Regional Fish In at Lowell. Set things up with the owners of the resort. REE & VEE and Les Young agreed to Co Host and we had a ball last year. We had 11 Women present and were involved in Fly Fishing stuff. VEE was in charge of the Womens activities and will be again this year.
I have never heard any negatives for our time frame.

There have always been large motor homes, 5th wheels, campers, tenting and of course the cabins.

At this time of year the rafting season is over and we hopefully will hit the October caddis hatch again.
Perhaps during the rafting season the resort is more populated than we have it. I scheduled the entire Resort for the full week for our FI.

I am sure you will have no problems as there are several longer drive thru spots for the big rigs.

Hope to see you there.

Denny

Denny, thanks for the info. I am looking foward to putting faces to names, and sucking up as much knowledge as my poor, old, thick head can absorb…See you there…Papa

As of today, I have his word the the NEW FLY ROD (wife’s 7.5ft 5wt 2pc dark-flamed QC quad) (Catskill Special) will be here in time for us to bring it to Idaho. This is a must see for you cane buffs. Yes she will fish it; if need be, left handed.

 This sounds too good to pass up. I called the resort today and put my name on the list. My wife Sue and I will show up Sunday afternoon and we look forward to putting faces with names, fishing, and swapping stories. She does not fish by the way but will bring her 7 weight Bernina and a bunch of fabric.

See you all there.

Remember to send us an email and we will put you on the “I’m going” list!

Lady Lotech and I will be in #3 cabin along the river front.
CAN’T WAIT!
REE & VEE; where are you guys staying?

Joe,

One of the riverfront cabins again. Not sure which one, didn’t ask. The count-down has begun.

REE
