I promised pictures

I’m really happy with the way this rod turned out. I finally finished it and now I have to get a new reel and line. It’s a 10’ - 8" - 5 weight Switch Rod from Batson. Lots of folks don’t like the high build or football shaped finish on guide wraps, but it’s my favorite. The crimson and gold metallic wraps make this rod look like it is be-jeweled. I am very pleased. It’s my best effort to date.
Many thanks to Steve Clark at Mid West Custom Fly Rods.

Funny you posted this now Joe because I was just about to email you in a few mins to see if you had pics of it yet:) love the color scheme looks nice. Know what reel your gonna put on her yet?

Steve

I’d like to put a Pflueger Trion 7/8 weight on it, but I might opt for some a little more budget conscious and go with the Okuma SLV 7/8 weight.

I really like the color scheme. It all comes together very nicely.

Now we need pix of some fish taken with it. Next week or so, right ??

Joe,
Certainly a rod in which you can take pride. Fish it well & please share pics!

Beautiful rod!! Colors are wonderful! Great job, Joe!!!

Absolutely beautiful Joe! Did Steve make your grip? Very nicely done!

Thanks Chris,
Those grips come from Batson that way. You just have to ream them. I usually use a rat-tail file to ream grips but with the longer cork on a switch rod, I had to buy a longer file and work the grip from both ends. I couldn’t justify the higher price of a reamer so I paid half the price for a file.

Joe,

Beautiful rod. The colors are just right and the high build looks good to my eyes.

I might have a set of reamers around here somewhere. If I can find them they’re yours if you want them.

That would be great Ron. I really appreciate it.
