I am doing a presentation on fly fishing for our local sport show. One of the things I would like folks to know is that you don’t need lots of expensive equipment to fly fish. I could like I could really use a picture of someone just holding a fly rod. And if that person happened to be holding a fish of any kind that would be great too. For example, a picture of a kid standing on shore holding a fly rod or casting would be great.
I have plenty of other pictures of fly fisherman decked out in all kinds of gear but I don’t have any of someone just holding a rod or just fishing.
I would greatly appreciate the help if someone had a picture they would be willing to share. Thanks.
Would this one help? It’s a picture of me and a close friend with his dog. We’re getting ready to fish one of his favorite holes and he was showing me the lay of the land (river). It was taken on the Lochsa River in northern Idaho during the Idaho Fish-In of 2007.
Picture isn’t working. Let me work on it a while.
Here are a few images…
This is my son fishing stillwater for grayling
This is a friend casting for rainbows
Same friend float tubing for nice stillwater bows.
You may use these images, but please leave the credit/watermarks in place. Thanks
Rick,
I DO have some cute pictures of my now 3 year old Granddaughter Tori casting my flyrod & admiring a dandy gill she caught on it. If interested, let me know & I’ll get them to you. It won’t be tonight though…Tori & Grandpa spent 4 hours at Chuck E Cheese’s eating, playing games, riding stuff, crawling through those big tubes, etc…THEN met Grandma for 4:30 Mass before I took a VERY tired little darlin’ home to Mom & Dad.

I have one me in waders, Carhart jacket, no vest, holding a small Brown Trout I would let you use. It’s my first fly-rod caught fish when I was getting started.
Here are afew pics of kids that I fished with last summer. The kid asleep in my boat is one of my all time favorites. BTW, this is the one without the beer cans photo shopped in.
Feel free to use any or all. If you need a high res copy just shoot me an email.
All of these shots were taken on the Yellowstone river in Paradise Valley.
Here are 3 Pics from the 2007 Michigan Fish-In. Jean(sewdrapes) and EDD at Gates EDD Recieving his dose of instructions from “Superman” aka J.C.
“Superman” starting his “Class, Lecture, Casting Demo” with the 70.00 SA combo.
Hope these Help.
If you need more check out the Michigan Fish-In Topics fot 2006 and 2007.
This was her 1st fly cast, while I was working on the Zebco “snarl”:
She insisted Grandpa fish & after watching me, she tried “fly casting” her little Zebco. While I was untangling that mess, she picked up my fly rod & a love affair was born. Now, all she wants to fish with is one of Grandpa’s rods. The dandy gill was the one she caught while stripping line. All she learned was from watching!

Mike, those have GOT TO BE… the absolute, BEST fly fishing photos I’ve seen in 20 years!
Others can HAVE all the “big grins, while holding a huge 'Bone”… “smiling over the top of a 30” metal head, while squatted in the river’s edge".
Sure, pictures like those are nice and even fun to see…once in a while. But there’s something about a child’s innocence, the fact, that not even being there, only seeing her on film… the pictures tell such a COMPLETE story, about the fun she’s having, the memories she’d building of fishing and most importantly, the memories she’ll some day, re-live, “Of that day, catching that Bluegill and that day with her Grampaw”!
Thanks for sharing such great photos with us all, Mike!
And, I HONESTLY didn’t think, that ANYTHING could beat those pictures of JC, in his Superman Pajamas"!??!
As far as JC, aka Superman goes, nobody has yet mentioned the HAIR!!! OMG, the Superman "curly-Q!!! I laugh EVERY time I look at that! Absolutely priceless.

And, Mike…if it wasn’t merely a “fig newton of my childhood imagination”, way, back, when… didn’t the SUIT, on the original Superman, fit just a bit “more form fitting” due of course… solely to the “bulging, straining, muscles”!??
I mean, of course… at one time, didn’t it appear, that there was always "more SUPERMAN, than there was, “SUPERSUIT”???
