I’ve been asked to do a casting/fishing clinic in Southern Vermont.(Mount Snow). It’s only for 5 people, 2 adults and 3 kids(all over 12). All first timers. I’m looking for a river near to West Dover to hopefully put them onto some trout. I’d love someone familiar with the area to direct me to a river/pool big enough for all. I’d like to be able to keep everyone in sight at once if possible. I was thinking about the Beaverkill? Any help would be great!! Thanks!
The east and west branches of the Deerfield run right behind Mt Snow and are probably more beginner friendly than the Battenkill.
The west branch warms toward summer, but the east branch fishes well all season.
You can get more information from the fly shop in Wilmington.
I gave them a call, thanks Dudley!
Dudley beat me to it!! You can also check if there are any Fish and Wildlife ponds in the area, they’re usually stocked but most have good clear areas around the shore for fly casting. Look up http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/lawsdigest.cfm You could check stream names and ponds and then check them on google but taddingers is a good bet.
