Yea, I wanted one a few years ago, but hubby said no way!!! Friggin’ purist…LOL
He didn’t even buy the old “It’s and Indicator!!!” line…ha, ha, ha
I use scuba fins in summer when wet floating and Caddis fins over wading boots and waders in cold water.
Scuba fins are faster and feel more secure.
The Fishcat Deluxe with inflatable seat is a better option I think. You ride higher and dryer and the extra floatation is insurance.
(not that you need it with 2 other bladders)
I use a Dry bag behind the seat and have a Fish Buddy fish finder that slides in a holster from Cabelas that straps on the tube.

I haven’t seen a golden cover like that, maybe that’s the Canadian model. Iwould have to say my Fishcat is one of the best investments in fishingequipment I have made. There are very few minor improvements I would make if Ihad the opportunity. Personally I thought the cost of the inflatable seat andback were a little excessive, the 2" thick foam in each is enough to floatme in an emergency, plus I always have on my SOSpenders pfd.
I have on a couple of occasions have swam upstream 100 yards or so against some current in the Chattahoochee River, where I mostly fish nowadays.
The colour is “Pumpkin” U.J. and was offered a few years ago.
I wanted Blue but this was what was on sale…better visibility is a plus I guess.
I would recommend the Inflatable seats if you are 220lbs or over but the foam seats suit most others.
I love the fact I can be set-up and have caught a few before pals in Toons have even gotten wet.
All my gear including Tube, rods, pack, pump and brews can fit in a Hockey Duffle Bag.

You know Duffin the Pumpkin is just too close to University of Tennesse Vol Orange for it to be safe for me to fish out of it in Georgia. The rivalries get pretty intense down here during football season. I am all for increase visibility however as there are some good sized fishing boats zipping up and down the Hooch in the early morning fog some times.
That deal about putting it in a duffle bag would be handy on occasion, however on a day to day basis, that would require letting the air out. I have 2 year old air in my tube, it goes from my basement to my pickup to the water and back. But, I am very lucky to have a large man cave where my pontoon hangs on one side of the door and my Fishcat hangs on the other.
I have an Outcast Fat Cat and a Wood River Glide Rider (no longer made) The Glide Rider is wonderfully light and portable but most of my tubing is done with the Fat Cat. I feel lost without the wet storage of the Fat Cat. I usually carry a small cooler back there. Cooler can be filled with lunch and drinks or flyboxes or whatever. I use the lid from a rubbermaid container instead of the stripping apron. You can do a lot with that concept.
God Bless,
Don
P.S. Brian/Duff have you ever had yours in moving water?
This is a picture of my old Fat Cat with the first iteration of the Rubbermaid tray. I have since refined it for use on my newer Fat Cat which was bought to replace the 11 year old tube which is still going strong.
Like Duff I prefer scuba fins. I bought the caddis boot foot fins recently as a back up and the only thing good about them is you can walk in them. They are pretty pitiful on the water in terms of moving you around. The scuba style fins are far superior.
God Bless,
Don
Don,
Did you take a Rubbermaid tray and make a shallow stripping basket? I was thinking of trying to use the bottom of a laundry basket for the same purpose by adding some wirenut ( I saw someone else had done that). Did you add anything to like that to keep the line from becoming tangled?
We have used the wire nuts idea, but a small rectangle plastic basket to our side on our tube/toon. I am not sure how you can use a laundry basket in your lap.
I did just buy a cool little stripping box so to speak. Has mesh in the bottom and padded sides, straps to the seat area and sits between my legs. Pretty slick and small. About 12" by 12"
What I had in mind with the laundry basket was to only use about the bottom 2" or so. I was going to try and find one that was wrecked but still had a useable bottom.
Gotcha. That should work. I have just so use to not having an apron, I just know I would look like one of those people getting out of a car with their seatbelt still on…LOL Why a laundry basket, is there a special shape? I am always looking for something new.
Size and shape should just about fit. Some elastic cord to hold it in place, it should be good to go.

Not yet Don…is that an invitation?
I read this tip somewhere and now have tethers. Go to the $1.00 store and buy 2 adjustable nylon dog collars (they have quick clips). Using the ring on the collar where you would put a leash, make a smallish loop from an old boot lace (trim and heat seal the ends), and ensure this loop also is tied around/thru some part of the strap on your fins. The tether will stay with the fins at all times. Put on your fins and clip the collar around your ankle.
Good idea, I use 2 large reflective dog collars for a belt when I walk in the early morning or evening.
Got my fishcat wet today, caught 5 trout I think and got numb toes.
I guess I should have added the story of my misadventure here. I got both sides (top and bottom) of my Fishcat wet yesterday and everything in the pockets.
You got to fill in the gaps of this story…
