Howdy to all

Just want to say Hello to all . Live in Iowa , fishing is my passion . Been tying Walleye and Crappie Jigs for a couple months and am ready to expand to Flies . Been reading the tutorials on beginning fly tying , they are very informative . Going to learn how to use a fly rod this spring , been wanting to for years . Reading various posts and finding a lot of valuable information . Have many questions and a lot to learn . Thanks to all .

RiverEagle,

A “big” welcome to FAOL from Tennessee. You will enjoy your time here and I will look forward to reading your posts and will try to answer any questions you may have if I know the answers. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. We were all beginners at one time and we all are still learning. You are going to love the fly rod. I use a fly rod for all species and tie all my own flies. A walleye on a fly rod is a lot of fun.

WELCOME RiverEagle

Welcome Rivereagle, you will like it here. Lots of good information and helpful people here. Definitely one of the friendliest boards you will join.

You’re among friends here; there’s a few from Iowa on the board. Wade on in, there’s plenty of room.

Regards,
Scott

Welcome aboard. You found a great place to hang out full of wonderful people.

RiverEagle, welcome to FAOL from sunny SoCal. Good to have you on board. New guys bring donuts and keep the camp wood cut. Jim

Welcome from Idaho. Browse the menu on the left side of the home page for a wealth of information on all things flyfishing. Ask a specific question, and you’ll get answers from everywhere. Sometimes, too many, and you’ll have to sift the answers.

Welcome. You will never learn more from any other print source.

Wish I had that fly tying section of FAOL when I started out. there is nothing wrong with learning how to cast now if you have the equipment. OK so there might be a little snow…

Welcome to the forum nice to see a another fellow Hawkeye. This is the place I started out a few years ago when I decided to take up the sport and pack away the spinning/baitcaster gear. You’ll find this a great place to learn and share.

Welcome aboard! I think you will like it here.

Welcome, RiverEagle!
I started into fly-fishing twice. The first time was to “check it out”. I caught fish but still felt I could be more efficient with spinning gear, so I didn’t stick with it.
Then I encountered a specific situation where I determined fly-fishing was essential to improving my success. So, I gave it another go…a serious effort. Its been a riot of fun ever since! The more I fly-fished, the more value I found in it. I still use spinning gear on occasion, but I choose to fly-fish whenever possible, in as many situations as possible, for as many species as possible. And then I started tying my own flies.
I’m still gaining knowledge about fly-fishing and fly-tying. I love it and enjoy it. This website and forum is the BEST, most helpful and most friendly fly-fishing resource available.

Again, WELCOME.

RivedrEagle, welcome to FAOL, enjoy yourself here. Great folks with lots of information and very helpful. Y’all take care, John.

I just found this and need to say great to see another Iowan here. Be warned all the talk about trout and especially all the western streams and rivers will drive you crazy, at least it does me, with envy, but we do have plenty of fish to catch on a fly. I haven’t caught a walleye on a fly YET, but I have caught most every thing else around here that way. We just got a pontoon boat and will use it mainly on Lake Rathbun so maybe that walleye is soon to be. Casting from the deck of that boat is like standing on an island with plenty of room, so it helps me a lot. Enjoy your time here and soak up lots of knowledge that is generaly accurate and freely given.

Welcome folks! Great board here and don’t forget to take a look around the site. The Archives are brim full of outstanding articles, pics and much, much more!

Welcome to the sight from Southwest Wyoming!
