How to run an Iron Fly event?

Greetings:

Was hoping someone with more experience running one of these could provide some advise. I’m stuck running an ‘Iron Fly’ event, akin to the Iron Chef TV show concept, but I’m at a complete loss on how to organize such an event. Anyone out there put on a similar event and can offer some insight? Any ideas would be welcome, and the more detail the better. Thanks in advance.

I have no experience with an “Iron Fly Tying Event” (nor would I wish to)…some clues:

PT: I know exactly what you mean but I was volunteered. Saw both of these sources and even talked with the organizer and some participants of the FFF event, but was hoping for further insight.

A few years ago at the Federation conclave they held a mystery fly contest for the tiers. Each participant was given a small bag of identical materials from which they were to tie two identical flies of their own design/pattern. A panel of three expert tiers judged the entries based on quality, originality, and use of at the materials. Like the “Iron Chef” points were deducted if all the materials were not used. Creativity in the use of the materials was a big plus.

Hope this helps,
