How to remove shine on new forceps??

I just got a new pair of Dr. Slick forcep/scissors:D. The finger holes have a gold finish and they are too shiney. How can I dull the finish without ruining the forceps:confused:.

Try some scotchbrite or steel wool. But most likely you will need to use something slightly more abrasive like some 240-280 grit sandpaper. Just don’t go too crazy with the paper and you should be fine.

Steve

When you drop them in the drink or in the tall grass, you’ll be glad they’re shiny.

Anyway, if you’re really paranoid about it, get some electricians tape and start wrapping.

I have a pair of these. I can’t say for sure, but I’m reasonably certain that they are minor contributors to my inability to catch every fish in a creek.

I know what you mean about shine, my buddy is bald , I insisted he wear a hat and my fish catch rate went up ten fold…

You could spray them with a dark colored Plasti Dip. My solution was to relegate that pair to situations where I could where them under a jacket, and pick up a less shiny pair for the vest. YMMV.

Why didn’t you just buy black ones?

Hey, watch the bald remarks, just because you are cultivating the outside of your skull instead of the inside.

Below the gold…are they shiny silver? Whatever you do to the silver, do to the gold!

Clip them inside your vest.

Spray them with flat black paint

Sandblaster…then the silver will be shiny too!!

God only made so many perfect heads…the rest he covered with hair.

I wouldn’t worry about it personally.

Me neither. Or I would keep them in my vest pocket until needed.

I agree with this as well.

As for the bald issue, a wise Methodist minister once told me that you only get so many hormones in this life and some people waste them growing hair.

I would find someone who does glass etching or one with glass bead blaster. I have both but you are prolly so far away tho.

I’ve spray painted a pair and they worked just fine. I used a flat primer spray paint.

stay away from paint as its harder then heck to wash off, a good hat is way better…

I’ll head for home now…

I second the suggestion made earlier. Keep them on a zinger pinned just barely inside your vest. They’ll be easily accessible when you need them, not visible when you don’t.

Hey guys thanks for the input. I guess the dazzling picture caught my eye and i didn’t see the matte black choice.
Adios, philip43:smile:

The very best advice ever brought to the world was given to me recently. It would be selfish not to share; so here are the details…oh…hey…look something shiny.
