how many leader to fly line connections....

…are there??

a simple answer is all that is needed. try not to repeat a method if its already accounted for!

example:

  1. dave whitlock crazy glue splice using a short length non tapered butt section. one end of the butt is the spliced itto the fly line, the other end is a loop (knot of your choice), for a loop to loop connection

  2. dave whitlock crazy glue splice using the butt section of the leader to the fly line

  3. cortland (homemade or any other name brand) braided loop for a loop to loop connection

try to keep this going to see how many methods there are.

please do not repeat a previous method

This link has 21 different fly line to leader knots: http://www.marinews.com/fly_fishing/fly_line_to_leader.html

There are more indeed.

castwell knot

I use a whipped loop for my big water lines, and some prefer to double nailknot their loops…don’t know if that counts as one or two//
On my light lines I use a needle knot

Welded fly line loop - factory or homemade (using shrink tube) for loop to loop connection.
