How is your fishing!!!

I just wanted to know how other people are doing on the lakes, ponds. Where I live it is finally starting to warm up in to the late 40’s. But I haven’t had time to fish. I just wanted Know if anyone eles is having some luck.If you aren’t is all we can do is wait for spring!!

                             thanks,

Here in southeastern Pennsylvania My friend and I have been doing fairly well on carp. So far this year we have each caught 7 on the fly rod and a few more with the spinning rods (I know probably a taboo statement on this forum). But you did ask about catching! We each have a goal of catching at least 1 carp on the fly rod each month of 2006. January and February have been successful for both of us thusfar. Hopefully as the spring comes it will get a little easier. I’m hoping that they don’t totally get lock jaw during the spawn. If so May might be a tough month.

Eich, could you spare some information on the type of water and technique you are using? Our weather is fluctuating quite a bit here, but there is some open water occasionally.

my trout fisheries are doing simply wonderfully.

the past 2 weeks, temps have been in the 70F range, with water temps hovering around 45F. the bugs are coming off and the fish are difnately cooperating…

heres a couple pics from last weekend…

as you can see…fishing is going just splendidly so far…

Here in OK we have been getting out 1 or 2 afternoons a week. Lots of crappie and bluegills and 2 or 3 small LM bass(13-17") an outing. The water temp. is cool enough it requires slow to very slow retieves.

The biggest hole my auger will cut is 8" so it’s kind of tuff to get a good drift. Makes it real easy to mend the line without spooking the fish though.
Seriously though, the streams are open and whenever the temps gets up to the mid thirtys fishing can be real productive. Fish are taking scuds mostly, for me anyway.

well … count your blessings …
-20F right now with a -44 F wind chill …

I think it’ll be a while yet …

It ain’t Manitoba winter flyfishing if the line guides ain’t got an inch o’ ice on 'em

It’s been okay here.

My fish are all deformed. Their head grew to close to their tail!

In Ga., it doesn’t ever really slow down. You just target other species. Right now, walleye, sand (white) bass and crappie are all over the place. Stripers are always good. We got a few, sort of, cold days (40s) but mostly it’s 50-60 degrees, and a lot of rain. Trout are best this time of year as well. It’s a bit slow for small and largemouth bass, catfish and bluegills. It’ll be a month or more before they get un-sluggish.

Semper Fi!

Finally got to go today for about an hour and a half. Went across the road from my house and fished a 3 acre pond that’s spring fed. Weather was warm today (68)but tomorrow it’s gonn’a be nasty. Fished a small panfish charlie with some white and flash and caught a nice bass on my third throw. About 5 minutes later caught another bass (about 12 in.) and was playing him when a huge LM nailed it and then quickly let go. Good estimate: between 8-10 pounds. Tore me up. Continued fishing and caught a total of 9 bass and 2 big bluegill. Had a blast.

looks like everyone is doing pretty good soon I will be too!!!
have fun!!!

                                 thanks,
