Just dyed olive deer body hair. How do you rate the color?
:?:
Rookie,
Nice dye job.
But it looks green, not olive, in the photo.
Olive, at least as I understand it, has a bit more brown in it.
Could be the picture, though.
Regardless, the color you got would tie some great bass bugs as is.
Good luck!
Buddy
My 56 year old eyes tell me the same thing Buddy observed. If in fact it’s green and not olive, PM me and I will provide proper disposal, shipping included.
(Nice Job!)
Joe
Thanks guys,
I guess my eyes are getting a little old. It’s a good thing I am not in the fashion business or I might be looking for a new job.
I am going to try a few different colors yet, red, orange, yellow and dark brown.
If they turn out somewhere close I will be one happy camper.
Hi there,
I have never got into dying and envy those who have taken the plunge. From the picture, it looks like a beautiful shade for Green Machine buck bugs.

How come I don’t see the picture in the first post. You guys seem to.

Yes, I know I can do that. So, you guys don’t actually see the picture until you copy/paste the address? I thought maybe I had something set wrong in my profile.
Dear rookie,
It looks pretty good to me, maybe a little more green than olive, but I have green died bucktail that is way more green than that.
Best Wishes,
Avalon
I posted about this before…on my computer as long as the [IMG]'s are left off I have an active link…for example, I can just clink on gonfishin’s link and get the picture without copy/paste…
It looks real good for a dye job. I always wanted to do shades of orange. It seems the big companies don’t want to do too many shades of orange.
You can now make any white feather whatever color you want. Very cool.
rookie,
You did a good job! One thing about the color is that when you dye deer hair, you have the dark tips of the fibers changing the shade a little bit.
I wouldn’t say the color you did was Olive, more like green. If you dye grizzly hackle, you have the same distortion. Dying materials that are white, might help you change shades easier.
Doug
looks decent enough not a dark olive
but i would say perhaps a pickle green,
