Today i recieved in the mail a winter and spring copy of Eastern Fly Fishing and a bill for 1 years subscription. How would they know i live in alabama and that i am interested in ff.FOAL IS ONLY WED SITE THAT HAS MY PROFILE. DO Y’ALL GIVE INFORMATION OUT

I don’t know everything about computers and I’m not certain how they can do it, but I think somehow (scripting techniques?) certain sites can tell where you’ve been by “looking” at the cookies deposited in your system. One of the biggest culprits is a group called Doubleclick. Subscribed (paid) sites allow Doubleclick’s cookie to be installed to your computer (similar to spyware in my opinion) and it tracks sites visited by your system. That info is gathered by Doubleclick who then distributes the info to 3rd party commercial advertisers.
LadyFisher has assured us in the recent past that FAOL doesn’t distribute your information to 3rd parties.
If you’ve recieved a bill for a magazine subsription you never ordered, take it to your Postmaster and report it.

Another possibility is going to shows, registering for “free drawings” which ask for email, address, phone, etc. I have been a member here too long to even THINK that they give info out.
