Part 1

Mash down barb; start thread at eye, cover gap width

original had Barry Bonds/Patrick Swayze-sized head so we’'ll bulk this one up with double-walled construction; clean, stack measure (hook width + gap) a clump of bleached elk

tie in with 2 soft loops; slowly tighten, let it flare and spin

push the hair back and wrap thread forward to eye

pull hair forward around hook; 2 more soft loops, hold on to tips, tighten, let it flare, but not spin

trim butts, wrap thread to bend

Part 2

clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a clump of deer; tie in, spiral wrap thru butts and trim at junction with head

tie in poly yarn and rib, wrap to base of tail

wrap yarn forward and tie off

tie in hackle; wrap back to base of tail

capture tip of hackle with wire rib, wrap forward thru hackle; helicopter end, tie off and trim tip of hackle

clean, stack, measure (tips even with tail) another clump of deer hair; tie in at base of head, trim butts

Part 3

push hair back (try to distribute evenly around eye)

pull hair back, tie it down, tighten

tie in legs and indicator; whip finish, brush wraps with SHHAN

trim out hair on the underside

trim legs and you’re done
