Tim

Panman;
Thanks. I’ll check it out.

My primary (and only) rod is a 7’6" 4wt Premier. It was a two piece, but now it’s a one piece. I’ve used it a lot and broke it three times and it’s about 3" shorter than the original length. These rods retail for about 90-100 bucks new. They were also renamed not too long ago to the Triumph. Mine has been a good rod for me. I re-learned casting on this rod and I’ve enjoyed it. So 60 bucks is a pretty good deal on it.

showed my cousin the $60 dollar rod and he ended up buying the 8’6 st croix premier 4 piece model with line, backing and reel for $120 some on the same site, with shipping it was $135 not all in all a bad price since we added a reel and line and backing and couldn’t find a decent setup for the price offered… st croix is a pretty good name in fly fishing. never tried there products tho. are they worth the money? anyone own a st croix rod? how does it handle?

They also have 20% off of on line orders often. I just took advantage of this deal on some Peak vise accessories. Seems like a nice place to do business and they are one of our sponsors.

Rick

ya it was 20% off. just wondered if its a good rod and reel.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ron and his sidekick Terry at the Michigan show. A couple of fine gentelmen. Even got Ron to spin a furled leader!

Brad

The St Croix reel and rod combos are nice outfits. I have the 7’9" stream ro combo. Its a nice setup. I upgraded to a different reel (Battenkill LA) but the old one worked ok.

thanks lucky for the info. I am sure he will be very happy with it since its his upgrade from a 5/6 $20 dollar martin combo with no drag reel…

Have a 8’6" 5wt 2pc premier and I really like it well made ,cast well, light in the hand. I use it often.
