Herons

Even before Kerry’s post I was wondering if a hawk decoy might not keep the herons away. for those who REALLY want to get extreme, a remote sensing device of the type used for exterior lights can be hooked up to a rotary spray head of the sort used to water lawns. Set to spray for 30 seconds to a minute on each activation. The spaying water might run off all sorts of potential pond miscreants, herons, raccoons, dogs, neighbors. One could enjoy the pond simply by cutting power to the circuit feeding the sensor. Of course, the herons might just consider it an upscale bird bath. Oh well, just thinking out loud.

I’ve seen 40 herons (counted) fishing together,
including an albino.
This was in a hatchery pond similar to the one in Jed’s original post.
