Help with information on a reel

In the FF collection I got when my brother passed was an odd reel.

It has a one-way clutch on the handle so it does not turn when a fish takes line, which can be switched off.
I have found very little on the web about it. It is my intention to sell it to add to his grandsons’ college fund but have not found any comparable reels for sale on the web on which to base the price.

Any ideas?

Clint,

There is one for sale on EBay, plus two other sites that talk about the reel

Just in case you didn’t see those.

Thanks - I had seen those. The second two while they list JW Young reels do not have a Landex. I have found some references and pictures (no prices) for Black JW Young Landex models and ONE picture of a silver one on a site where the poster had just purchased it, but precious little else.

Might find some info @http://orca-online.org/ or

Looked at the 7/8 RS2 & then saw this anti-reverse Landex thinking if I was still bass fishing with bamboo…!

Check here quick since it’s sold. Last fly reel listed at bottom. Not sure if it’s exactly the same size.

Thanks - it appears to be the same size with a minor difference in the line guide and in the more dominant black color . The one pictured has a guide built into the frame of the reel where the one I have has a cast piece attached to the frame with a serial number engraved into the guide. And the one I have has a hammer-tone silver finish.

I keep getting closer. I will take it to the Sowbug Roundup this coming spring and hope one of the antique tackle guys can give me a more definitive answer on the year of manufacturer and the worth, so I can list it on one of the classic collector sites.
