Help with fly rod company name ?

Hey guys,

I guess I am getting old, I can not remember the name of an older rod company.

They sold mostly regular gear mostly salt water I think, and some fly rod combos, they were USA based.

I do not know if they still exist?

It was a short name; like penn ,or scott.

They were not by any means luxurious rods, but good old go to rods that were tuff.

Not a modern company.

Just spit out any names that come to mind, sooner or later someone will mention it.

It has been driving me crazy for the last 3 days.

Thanks for the help.

Chris

The “mostly salt water” throws me…but…Fenwick comes to mind as a “middle of the road” builder?
Lamiglass
Eagle Claw (I realize it is two words, but throw it out anyway)

‘Fisher’ comes to mind as close to your description.

Penn made salt rods and reels.

Seeker?..though we mostly used their blanks.

“Master” maybe.

Still see spinning gear with that name. Have seen a number of old Master fly rods come through our shop to get guides rewrapped

And another would be Martin

Kunan
Talon
LCI

Herter’s
Diwana?

Heddon, Shakespere, Garcia, Berkley, South Bend, Daiwa, …

G Loomis…

Thanks for the help guys!

I guess it must have been Penn, I think they use to have fly rod combos for sale.

Have a great holiday season,
Chris

Old Florida made some cheap and tough rods and reels. Deerfield was another USA rod company. Diamondback. Great Bay rod co. Fly Logic. Just a few that came to mind.

Amazing all of the names from the past that have come on gone. How about Finnysports in Ohio?

Wow! Dusting off a whole bunch of memories from the archives of my (once) brain!! Thank you! Merry Christmas to one and all!!

Betty, you are right. It is good to shake the cobwebs out every now and then to see what falls out.

You have yourself a very merry Christmas. Most likely it will be a cold one for you over there.
