Hello

I just wanted to introduce myself to the board. I live in Ky and fish mostly ponds, strip pits, and small lakes. I have the fly fishing bug pretty bad right now. I would like to try the Cumberland River sometime in the next couple of weeks for trout. I have a 5 wt and and 6 wt rod and lost of questions. I have caught some nice gills, crackers and bass this year. A few crappie mixed in. One of my favorite flies is the “goldie”. I had some “training” {Michigan and Texas} to teach flyfishing and Flytying to 4H kids several years ago. This is what got me interested in Flyfishing. The 4H sportfishing program never did “take off”. I am retired from Ky Fish and Wildlife. I now have a parttime job helping survey property. Anyway, that is a some info about me.

Welcome aboard…

Tom,
Welcome aboard. This is a great site with many fine & helpful people.
Sounds like you & I fish the same types of waters. While I do some trout fishing, my passion is bluegill.

Tom -

Welcome and greetings from SE Idaho.

Unpack your questions and fire away. Someone around here is always ready, and usually able, to provide some opinions, if not answers.

John

Hi Tom,

Glad to have you aboard. Like John said, you got questions, someone here is bound to have an answer.

Tom,
Welcome to the BB!

Tom,

Welcome aboard! Best Regards…

Hey Tom, welcome.
Some of us get a little goofy at times, but I haven’t seen any severe “personality pathologies” running around. Feel free to feel at home.

Tom,

Welcome to FAOL and thanks for the nice introduction. Looking forward to your continued interest in fly fishing. We have a bank of experts just sitting at their keyboards with a scary amount if fly fishing knowledge ready to share, so don’t hesitate to ask. I’ve heard the Cumberland mentioned here frequently, so the gurus are probably amassing their Cumberland knowledge folios right now.

From the Island Nation of Ohio

Tom,

Welcome aboard and glad you found us. I’m sure your question regarding the Cumberland will get some responses.

Hey Tom.
Echoing a big welcome from the Island Nation of Ohio. Stick around long enough and you might find out why it is the Island Nation (psstt, here is a hint: b/c nobody wants it :p)

Your Fish and Wildlife experiences might come in really handy in some discussions here so PLEASE chime in when you feel the need!
