Hello from Ohio...

Hi all,

Longtime lurker & addicted fly fisherman. Alot of good fly fishing information on this forum & it’s great to see folks out there with passion for this great sport. Caught the bamboo bug about year ago after meeting & casting some of Don Recker’s rods at the Cincinnati Fly fishing show, what a kind gentleman he is…ordered one of his rods & they are a thing of beauty. Anyways, I’m quite anxious to get out & fish this spring & from the looks of things I will be selling off some equipment soon to support the cane habit.

Take care all,

BH

welcome aboard

BH,
Welcome from one of the ol’ guys from the Great Island Nation of Ohio…Canton, to be exact. What part of the State are you from?
Those 'boos ARE addictive, aren’t they?
Mike

Beadhead;
Welcome aboard! Great place to be and hope to hear a lot more from you. The Island Nation of Ohio needs all the help it can get!

welcome beadhead!

Beadhead,

Welcome aboard. I was a the show too and saw those nice rods. I’m sure you’re going to be please. Looking forward to hearing more from you on the board.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Welcome aboard Beadhead. What part of the great Island Nation are you from? Northwest for me. Hang on…its a he** of a ride!

Brad

Thanks all…I am from Loveland, OH which is in suburb north of Cincinnati very near the the Little Miami River…not too far from you alra195. I do frequent Brookville & Mad & occassional trips up north for steelies & down to smokies. I didn’t realize it & had never heard the term but I am very glad to be part of the Great Island Nation of Ohio.

I’m glad that you decided to officially join the group. We always had that strange feeling that we were being covertly observed. Don’t be a stranger. Chime right in with tips, opinions and lots of photos. 8T

Hey!..I have family in Loveland…do you know any of the Donahues? Loveland is a nice little river town, but it HAS grown over the years.
Mike

Welcome to the group beadhead. I just brewed a pot of brazilian coffee. Learned how to roast the beans here. You bring the bear claws. Glad ya quit lurking and finally joined in. Jimsnarocks

:DOh Lord another Island Nationer.
Welcome to the Family:D

Hey Bead Head,
Welcome aboard! Watch out for those guys from central and eastern Ohio. Being a Western Pennsylvania native that now lives in Central Pennsylvania I can tell you real horror stories about those guys from THAT part of the Island Nation Of Ohio. All of them true of course…ahem…ahem!;)

Hey Beadhead,

I am from Loveland, OH
Yep, your just down the road. I work over at Caesar Creek. I’m the Dam Manager with the Army Corps (only spelled with an “n” when I’m making someone unhappy!). I fish at BV and have been on the Mad in several places as well. We’ll have to make an oppurtunity to cross paths. If you find yourself in the neighborhood please send me a PM in advance and I’ll try and make myself available to say hello.

I’m a transplant from South Western PA but the “Island Nations” been home for a while. Drop me a line if you think you’ll be up this way. Pretty fair Small Mouth fishing down stream of the dam in the natural areas section of the gorge.

Welcome aboard. I have been FFing only for about 6 years and I have learned more on this board than anywhere else. I am hoping to fish Brookville this year so keep us informed about the conditions there. If you haven’t tried the Steelie fishing in the Erie Tribs, you are missing a thrill.

beadhead,

Welcome from this part of the sta…I mean Nation as well.

Great site as you know, fantastic folks you will discover.

Take care,

Mike

BH, … A Warm welcome to you from a Northern Cousin :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, lots of Island Nationers on this board !! Thanks for all the greetings…just a little background…I have been fly fishing since 1995 when I bought my 1st fly rod/reel combo at Relo sporting goods when it was going out of business in Fairfield, OH…it was a 9’ 5weight Fenwick & Pflueger Medalist…after about 4 or 5 frustrating years I almost broke that rod over my knee one day at the Mad river after being skunked again for about fifth time in a row…I almost gave up but kept trying until one day I ran into excellent fly caster who help me learn how to cast. Once I got the concept I upgraded my rod/reel & it’s been nothing short of an addiction for rods, reels, tying equipment, etc. etc…(I’m afraid to even read the coffee thread).

Raw69…yep, I know about the Erie tribs…I go 2-3 times a year & it’s absolute blast!! Look me up if you head to Brookville…I try to get over there & the Mad us much as possible.

Alra195…excellent that you are so close, absolutely will drop you line for smallie fishing or even the Mad…look me up too if you make any plans.

Anyways, this year I turn the dreaded 40 & coaching my boys teams will keep me busy this spring but I’m hoping to get out on the water as often as possible!

Just ignore Jack. He spent a month here one weekend, and has never been the same since.:p:p

Welcome from the Dough god on the sloppy shores of Dreary Erie.

FYI, Jack is good people. He’s just sad he can’t live in the Island Nation if he expects to fish year round.:stuck_out_tongue:
