Hey there Little J.
Central PA, one of my favorite spots to wet a line. Been to State College and Balfonte(sp) a few times and stung many fish in the lips at Spring Creek and Fishing Creek. I got skunked, however, at Flyfishermans Paradise. Whipped the water to a froth and didn’t get a rise.
Good to see ya here-you’ll love the folks.

Mark

I’d rather be in Wyoming!

Mornin’ Little J, and welcome.

Bob, in northeast PA

There is a fine line between fly fishing, and standing in the water waving a stick.

Welcome from a neighbor to the near west!
You’re right, these are great folks, and a number of them live in Pa. Settle in…lots to learn, share, and enjoy.

Once upon a time I use to lived in Altoona and Martinsburg. I fished the Little “J”, Spruce Creek and Yellow Creek all the time. I bought a lot of flies from Uncle Joe’s. Not exactly a fly shop, but it worked in a pinch. Living in NE Florida I now chase reds and specs with my fly rods all the while wishing I was back home fishing for trout.

There was an earlier post by someone wanting advice on where to fish in Altoona. I put in my $0.02 worth. But seeing as how y’all live there I’m sure you would have better advice than I.

Hopefully y’all will get some decent weather soon.

Hello from Middletown, Pa. I’m usually found on the Quittapahilla or the Manada Creeks chasing trout.

Welcome aboard yeh hardy! Abandon all hope.
I’m a Penns Creek kinda guy myself. You might be interested in this article: [url=http://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/readerscast/rc340.html:8a9ed]http://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/readerscast/rc340.html[/url:8a9ed]

You’re right about Richey’s. Not only is their ice cream great but they still deliver milk to your door (or at least the did when I was living there). Martinsburg is a great little town. I miss it alot.

PG Flyfisher,i know thay did but i dont see the trucks on the road any more, see them at stores, martinsburg is a quite nice town, sorta the gateway to my fishing.the hub to the limestoners and raystown river,i live south of east freedom

REALLY a great bunch of fly fishers here, a little amazed at how many Pennsylvania guys. Spring is coming, went out to get my bucket of coal for the basement stoker, even at nine am the sun is slowly turning on the Spring heat, I believe it hit the 60s yesterday on my South facing deck in the sun. Best thing that happened in Pa last few years is that we have super nice water levels in our streams, hated those drought years. Guys getting ready for the baetis hatches in March. Thanks to all for the warm welcomes.

Hi, Little J:

Another Pennsylvanian here! I used to fish the Little J quite a bit; dividing time between a number of other central PA streams. Problem is, there’s just too many places to go and not enough time. Lucky you to live right in the midst of some of the state’s best fishing. For me, in Lancaster CO, it’s a 150 mile drive.

John

welcome lil j

i’m also from PA SW corner. i’ve done some fishing in your neck but not enough. usually fish spruce when in the area. i have a friend that owns a 1/2 mile strecth.

it would be nice if you posted some reports as the spring rolls along. might have to make the 2 hr drive if conditions are good.
