Hedgehogs

I have a question that I suppose is mainly for tyers from the UK. Would it be accurate to say that Hedgehog patterns are composed of a coarse, dubbed body (seal by preference) with three wings rising from the back at intervals? I have been looking at a couple of patterns listed and that seems to sum them up. It looks like an interesting family of flies that could be wet or dry, depending on the tying materials and presence or absence of Gink.

Thanks,
Ed

Doug, you are a warm, kind, thouroughly decent person. I almost hate to admit this, but I had just left that page before I made my post. Seriously. Not Kidding. But thanks for your concern and assistance. Tight lines to you.

Doug  P.S. That’s exactly how I found it!

EdD,

If you google a search for Sedgehogs, rather than Hedgehogs, you should find whole heap of info regarding these patterns.

Kind regards

Phil.

Ah HA! Thank-you, Sir. I actually stumbled across a dressing listed as Hedgehogs, along with a few variants. Thanks again. I’ll do a bit of reading now.

EdD,

While checking out a couple of my favorite UK sites I spotted this bit of info on Hedgehogs. The chap even has step by step instructions for tying the flies. His second and third flies are both hedgehogs.

Here ya go:
