Read this in my NARFE magazine, and know we have former marines on the board.
"Live or work at Camp Lejeune before 1987?
You may have been exposed to contaminated drinking water. Register with the Marine Corps by calling (877)261-9782 Mon-Fri 8:30 AM tp 5:00 PM EST or by going online to www.marines.mil/clwater.
Registered individuals will be mailed summary results when two independent research initiatives are complete."
I signed up a while back and have been getting regular reports on the situation from the Lejuene team. From what I read, they found dry cleaning solvents and some other chemicals in the water on the base. They say there were no health ssues directly related to the bad water but they are still running test.
Uncle Jesse - Murtha is the only person that I know of that I consider an ex-Marine.
As the saying goes - I may be not as lean and not as mean but I am still a Marine!!
Personally I think Murtha should probably be doing time somewhere. Tip O’Neil stacked a committee years ago to keep him from being censured or kicked out of Congress years ago.
I have no doubt you Marines are every bit as mean as you ever were, you just have more judgement about then to use the mean now days. The powder still there it just takes more effort to pull the pin. Everyone should read “Flags of OUr Fathers” it should be required in high school.
I will gladly stand erect, heels together and salute every man and woman who honorably served.
