We’re heading to NW Arkansas in mid April (Devil’s Den State Park is one place my wife is looking into) and I was wondering if anyone knew of any fishing close that area. I know of the White, Norfolk, and Little Red Rivers but those may be a bit far from Devils Den for a quick jaunt to wet some lines. I’m looking for somewhere I can get away for a couple hours at a time and those rivers are just too far, unfortunately.
If I can persuade her to go elsewhere do any of you have any recommendations for places that are both family friendly (2 and 3 year old kids) and good fishing?
Below Beaver Dam is going to be your closest shot unless you go to Roaring River, MO it’s north about 20 miles as the crow fly’s from the Beaver Dam, this may be the ticket for the wife & the kids will have lots of things to do there. You will have to go by hwy 37 at Gateway to the north to go to Roaring River if your on hwy 62 even to get to Beaver Dam. There’s no shortcuts in this area, I know them all…
If you go to Roaring River go N. on hwy 37 at Gateway and take a right on hwy 112 at Seligman, MO about 4 miles north of Gateway, once your on 112 you will run into Roaring River & you can’t miss it…It’s Mo state trout park, a nice place for the family.
Here’s the Beaver Dam store number 479.253.6154 talk to Bryce Cadion, good folks there.
Beaver Tail Water and Roaring River are the two closest places for Trout fishing. I live in NW Arkansas and it takes me about the same amount of time to get to either place.
Now if you are open to some Smallmouth fishing, there are little streams all over that you could find access to. The ones I fish are in southern MO since I live close to the state line.
I’ll second a conversation with Bryce. Good guy . . .
