Since I am a slow typist it has been my experince in the past to type out my posts on my e-mail and then copy it and paste it on the “New Post” . this is’nt working for me now.
Ho can I do this ? I have a contribution that I would like to post but am at a loss.
Help would sure be appreciated.
Have’nt posted for quite a while but have been hanging around.
Thanks a bunch,
Perch
Perch,
It should work the same for you as before. You should still be able to copy and paste. I do it all the time.
just type out your response or contribution in the reply box and skip typing it in the email.
Norm, when you type slow, or post a long posting while trying to look up information the site times you out, and you loose what you typed.

Pearch, OK I just tried to cut and paste from my word processor to this site, it didn’t work. I don’t know what the trouble is but your not alone in that trouble.
Eric
Try Notepad. It’s the text editor in Windows. See if that works. It might be the formatting characters that are being refused.
I just tried typing in my email, then I tried typing on a Word document then copying and pasting it to here. It worked. I typed the stuff, highlighted it with the mouse, then clicked the right button on the mouse and chose copy. I then came here, clicked the reply to thread, and then clicked the right mouse button and chose paste. It worked both times. Not sure why it isn’t working for some folks.
blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhblahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhblah
copied and pasted the above from microsoft word. it works
Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
copied and pasted from the internet website. it worked
perch:
can I get more details, because I cut and paste here all the time. I’d go nuts getting a new issue out if I couldn’t (granted that’s a short trip, but I’m just saying…)
What email client or word processor?
How are you copying the text (what keys did you push etc)
What browser are you using?
How are you pasting it into the edit box?
Which edit box? The quick reply? Or the “Go Advanced” edit box?
The details matter if I am trying to replicate it so I can fix it.

I didn’t have the problem until I went to windows 7 yesterday with my new computer. an hour or so ago I switched from Internet explorer to google chrome, now it is working. I use the post quick reply link.
Eric
AH-HA! I knew I’d be able to blame it on Windows!
Yes, I am deep into that “elitist Mac User” mode again.
Testing, testing, one, two, three. Did I pass? Pasted from MSWord with Firefox browser.
My E-mail is “Out look express” and that hasn’t worked.
Went to “Note pad” and that didn’t work too.
Went to "Word " and that still didn’t work for me either.
Bear in mind that these are not up to date editions ,does that have a lot of bearing on this situation ?
I have even had my wife looking over my shoulder to ensure that I’m doing this right and she doesn’t know why
I’m having trouble .
With all of these I hit the “Select all” option, then “Copy” , then I come to the “New thread box” and right click.
The paste option doesn’t illuminate.
I am still at a loss . More help and advice will be appreciated.
Try using… Ctrl…v
Ducksterman was right . Did the Ctrl V and it worked. Thankyou very much. PM sent
I too am having an issue, not a problem but still a PITA none-the-less.
When I click on the “go to first unread post” button it sends me to the top of the last page. Is it just me (Windows 7, windows explorer) or is this a common problem?
new2,
You are talking about 'go to first" new post…it does take you to the top of the page…then click on " view first unread " …in the middle of the page…incidentally if you click on the far right icon it takes you to the “last post”…all pretty handy…
That’s OK Kevin. We’re tolerant people.
