Has anyone heard of or tried this fly reel?

I saw this in an ad for our local Bass Pro Shops. Apparently this is a White River Fly Shops (the Bass Pro Shops house brand) offering. I’ve never heard of it, and couldn’t find it on the Bass Pro Shops on-line shop.
The add says something like “Compare to $325!” and there will be a one-day sale at the local store for the price shown above.
LOOKS like a nifty little reel for the price, even though some parts look like they might be plastic…but does anyone here have any experience with these?

Dave, I think this must be a new product for BPS. I have several of their Hobbs Creek and a couple of their Dogwood Canyon reels and have used them for several years with very satisfactory results. The reels I have do not have much plastic on them, none where it would be critical.

I got my hands on one the other night. It seemed like a fair reel but didn’t impress me enough to buy it. At first look at the ad I thought maybe a Lamson knock off from seeing the knob under the spool, but not even close. The spool threads on and was hard to get the threads started. But you should lookk at one you might have different thoughts than I did.

Got the BPS ad Saturday myself. Although mine says compares to $265. Dont know about that reel, but like Uncle Jesse, I too have Dogwood Canyon and Hobbs Creek reels from BPS. Got my fits DC reel over 10 years and still use it without any problems. The HC are large arbor.

I also noticed in the BPS add they have 5, 6 and 8wt Cortland lines form $9.97 (Ad says $9 value but specifics on lines). And they have an “Intruder Outfit” for $49.99. This includes a 4pc 5wt or 8wt rod , aluminum disc drag large arbor reel (looks like maybe an HC) and a travel case that has reel case attached. This is really a great deal. Thy also have Dogwood Canyon 4 -8 wt Rods with sock on sale from 54.99 to 29.97

Talking about a group that should be a sponsor. With what they spend on flyers to our houses they could gain a lot more loyalty.

I picked up on a little unadvertised tip last year. I was talking to a part employee there, if you fish and need a part time job it is the place to work. They get great discounts. I picked up a 6 ft. 3 or 4 wt. Pro Comp label a couple of years ago. It did not have a hook keeper or a label with the usually info. My new friend told me the Pro Comps were usually one of their better rods that had a cosmetic flaw. I know the reel seat etc., is similar to one of their better rods. I paid $20 for it, practically taking it from under the nose of another guy who did not know to hold it near while deciding.

The spool threads on? THAT seems pretty unusual… I rarely change spools, but that is still something of a concern. Decent looking reel, though. I still might check 'em out.

Bass Bug…Yeah, my bad…I double-checked and our ad also says “Comare to $265”.

Guess I should have said, that the nut that holds the spool on is threaded and the nut does not come off the spool when the spool comes off the frame. This is what gave me a problem because you can’t see what you are doing when you put it back together.

OH! OK…yeah, I have seen other reels like that. Seems like the Albright Bugatti is similar to that. I’ve had no issues with those.
