Harken's Patient Angler Stone SBS

A Deschutes pattern from John Harken, one-time owner of the Patient Angler in Bend, OR; seems to share chromosomes with Harrop’s Hair Wing Dun.

hook - TMC 5212 #6
thread - UTC 140 fluoro orange
tail - moose body hair
abdomen - Congo Hair orange
thorax - peacock herl
hackle - rusty dun
wing - elk hair

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 60% mark, wrap to bend

clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a clump of moose body; tie in, trim butts, cover with thread

tie in CH at 60 % mark; wrap to tail and back, tie off/trim

tie in hackle

tie in peacock, wrap to 80% mark; tie off/trim

Part 2

wrap hackle thru thorax; tie off/ trim

clean, stack, measure ( tips to tail) a clump of elk hair; tie in, taking a few raps thru the butts to anchor

build up head, whip finish, SHHAN, trim butts
