anybody have one or have tried one? i’m interested in one but would like to hear more about them.
i’m not interested in comparisons to any other fiberglass rods or fiberglass rod builders.
I used to have a pre-JET hardy glass rod (still trying to figure out why I got rid of it)…anyway, one of the smoothest rods I’ve ever cast. Also, see JC’s article on the Perfection.

I have a Hardy Perfection Glass … and it’s the closest thing to perfect that I’ve ever cast/handled. Truly it is!

the only reason I ask is that I’ve cast several other pretty damn smooth glass rods that that weren’t Hardy’s…in fact, IMO, better…this, of course, is comparing to the older Hardy’s, not the Perfection.

how about comparisons between the latest hardy fiberglass rods vs each of the following: steffen bros, mcfarland rods, t&t, scott, lamiglas, tl johnson etc
Don’t forget Dave Redington, TFO, Mario Wojnicki, Japanese Fenwicks…
im sure he is interested in the hardy because the same reason i am. it looks fantastic, has great write-ups and priced between 299 and 350. throw in hardys reputation of their glass rods, the great warrantee , and heck yea! it is a hardy!!! i want one real bad and was on the phone with the bedford sportsman for about a half hour.i,m ordering it friday!
I tried the new “Test” at the Detroit show this March. I believe it was a 7’ 4 wt, but I could be mistaken about the length. I like bamboo rods and was keeping an eye out for a possible alternative that I could use on wet or drizzly days. At first “wiggle” off the rack, I thought it might be a bit too soft or whippy, but then I took it to the casting pond. Wonderful rod. Short, medium, long, the rod was excellent. I handed it to a friend who also builds bamboo rods for a living and he was equally impressed. It felt a lot like bamboo. In addition, the rods are beautifully finished, and seemed like a good value price wise.
That being said, after casting that rod, I did cast a Mike McFarland 7’2" 4wt Parabolic that I absolutely fell in love with. I would own one of those blanks right now if I hadn’t bought some other stuff since then. Next year…
But to answer your question, if you like the feel of bamboo rods, I think you would really enjoy the new Hardy glass rods. I would be proud to own and fish one, and may want to buy one before they go through the roof price wise.

I’ve had that very same rod in the review in my hands, and it’s very nice.
As a matter of fact all of the new Hardy rods are very fine rods. Highly recommended.

well hell, if my rod looked like those new Hardy’s, I’d want one as well!!! love that reelseat.
as far as casting goes, I’ve never touched one of the new Hardy’s, I loved the older one I had. But, outside of my bamboo, the first rod I’ll reach for is my Steffen. It certainly doesn’t have the aesthetics of the Hardy, but it sure does everything I ask it to and then some. Very smooth caster close in, and far out; rollcasts great, throws a chuck ‘n’ duck setup quite nicely…all in all, it’s damn close to being as smooth as my bamboo (a Payne 102 clone)…and that’s saying something.
but, now that I’ve seen that photo of the new ‘troutfisher’, I think I want one…
