Happy Easter

Happy Easter to those who celebrate this special day. Ours will be filled with church, family, friends and food. Hope yours is special too.

Joe

HAPPY EASTER, to you as well, my friend!

I, intend to insult NO ONE, but have always been curious, as to the real how and why, of “Jesus & The Cross”, “A rabbit named Peter”, (male?), “Who lays vivid colored chicken eggs, then hides them from children” all ties together, but…

Whether, or not, your personal religious beliefs follow, this day, it is still a day of reflection. If not on our religious thoughts, at least on friends and family of which we all should be more grateful for… on this day and always.

Happy Easter to everyone at FAOL!!!

Add my wishes for a Happy Easter to all. We will go to Mass, my oldest daughters for brunch with them, then Son Ben & his crew will come to eat Grandpa’s fried turkey. A friend from work had no place to go, so she will join us for dinner. I will be deep frying 2 turkeys as our neighbor/landlady’s one grandson can’t be with her, & since she loved the last turkey I fixed, we are sending one to him.
It will be a full & very Blessed day at the Flanagans. I pray it will be the same for all my FAOL family.
Mike

Happy Easter to all of you too.

Sean and Family

Happy Easter to all! HOWEVER… the REAL Easter is on the 27th of April. Orthodox Easter!
HA!HA!
Listen…if any of you happen to see Little Bo Peep’s lost lamb, tell it there’s a huge Big Fat Greek family looking for it!!! HA!HA! WE’RE HUNGRY!!!

Have fun today, all! Health!

BAAAAAAAA-d Luck Larry!

Happy Easter to all who share in it’s celebration. Another great opportunity to perpetuate family ties.
Bad Luck Larry: The “Real” Easter of April 27th is not only celebrated by those of the Eastern Orthodox faith but also by the Eastern Rite Catholics like myself. I take advantage of BOTH however, and will celebrate today with our “extended” family.

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

Mark

Happy Easter to one and all. All the kids in the family are done hunting eggs and there is a 20lb prime rib in the oven. Hope you all have a great day.

The holidays best to all from both of us. Work here, new issue going on line tonight. Small picnic ham going in the oven in a while.

Happy Easter to all and a special prayer for our men and women serving around the world. Spent the day taking care of His Army of His Nation.

I usually stay clear of religious matters on line but some have raised the question about the Easter rabbit and eggs—

The History channel has a short video covering that.

In a nut shell–

According to the History channel, Jewish people were the first to celebrate what would later be called Easter. They called it Pascha, which is derived from Pesach, the Jewish name for Passover.

Originally, it occurred two days after Passover, no matter what day of the week it was.

In 325 AD Roman Emperor Constantine ruled that the holiday should always be held on Sunday after the first full moon following Spring Equinox. That can occur anytime between March 22 and April 25.

As Christianity spread across Europe into the Pagan held areas, different customs blended into the holidays, including Easter.

Easter may have been named after Estra, the Goddess of Spring and Fertility.

The use of colored eggs made its way into the holiday because of these Pagan beliefs. For thousands of years, eggs were the mythological symbol of birth. Christians adopted this symbol and the red painted eggs represented the blood Christ shed while on the cross.

The rabbit had also been a symbol of new life and fertility across Europe. Starting around the 16th Century, parents told their children that if they behaved, the Easter Rabbit would come and lay colorful eggs in their homes. This started the tradition of Easter Egg Hunts and also of Easter Baskets because the children would make nests for the Easter Bunny to lay its eggs in.

In the 19th Century, the chocolate eggs hit the market in Europe, starting a multi billion dollar business each year.

If anyone wants the video link to that let me know via private message and I will send it to you.
