Hans, we (I) need some smaller patterns

Love watching Hans’ vids. My problem is that I tie for fishing hatches. In the Spring, that pretty much means some pretty small flies; i.e., the baetis, and the PMD.

A size 12 or 14 BWO won’t be very productive.

I was tying some size 18 CDC Baetis Cripples and wold love to see a video on tying them in this size.
Thanks,
Byron

Byron,

I love tying small flies. The challenge is to make them showing enough detail on a video. I will see what I can do.

The next video, already shot and compiled, but not yet on Youtube, will not be a small enough hook size for you

Cheers,
Hans W

C’mon Hans. Can’t we see you tying one of those Mustad 299s?

Cheers.

Allan, if you want to set me a challenge, you gotta do your homework

And no, I very much doubt this will be a video candidate…

Cheers,
Hans W

Video tying them on a size 10 or 12. The techniques and materials are the same as if you tied them on a 18, 20 or whatever.

There are tricks and nuances to tying quite small. IMHO

To add to Byron’s request I would love to see some photos of Hans’ collection of flies tied on the #32 277 hooks. I know you have them from various tiers around the world. Once of twice I’ve looked for this on your site Hans, but haven’t found them. Thats most likely me being thick.

Its not the challenge that a video of tying that small would be so I hope you can see your way to sharing some of those.

Cheers,
Alan.

Alan,

Here’s Hans’ page for his collectiomn:
