Been thinking of this one for awhile simply because I love working with this stuff. But this is a deer hair swap, and because of the mess and all, we’ll limit it to six swappers plus the meister. Everyone ties seven. Soon as the swap fills we’ll set a two month deadline for getting the flies to me. End of February for the deadline. Mail to John G. White, Box 672, Clara City, MN 56222. Include SASE! Thanks. JGW
Zoo Couger by JGW (Tied)
Kahuna: TBA (RECEIVED)
Jeremy H. – Goddard Caddis
CK Lenske – Fathead (RECEIVED)
James Smith – Eyelash Mudler (RECEIVED)
Lee S. – Frog (RECEIVED
Betty Hiner – Mouse (RECEIVED)
I’d think this swap might be more geared to bass than trout, but I don’t care about species. Enuf said. I won’t limit because I learn from everyone. Have a Merry one! JGW

Thank you for the kind words, but as you can see, it really is a rather simple pattern to tie. I also think you’ll find a very effective pattern for both cold and warm water fishing.
Got my deer hair in to do the cougers. Thought I had yellow or I’d had done soemthing different. But I’ve wanted to tie these ever since the Great Waters show last winter. JGW
Since everyone in the swap seems to be getting the flys out so quickly I thought I’d better let you know that I’m leaving on vacation tomorrow. I will not be back until next week. I signed up for the swap since the deadline was not until the end of February and I had plenty of time. I will not be able to get to these until the end of January.
I apologize if I’m delaying anyone. Again, I never thought everyone else would be so fast!
JeremyH,
It’s not my swap, but I’d venture to say, some of us are just AR overachievers!!! If they’re to white43’s by the ending date, fantastic!!
Speakening of AR overachievers … John…did you notice the toe tags? And, thank you! They were fun!
Betty
John,
A box of Fathead Divers will go in the mail after school this afternoon. Tied them up in a size 8 for the swap. Included some extra stuff for you extra efforts in running the swap. Thanks for the challenge. I’ve enjoyed it.

The only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves.
I will prololy be the one to procrastinate till Feb. Was going to do them while manning the booth at the S.M. ISE show…but found the temptation to see Lefty, Bob Clouser, the Rajeffs and others just toooo much.
CK, your Fathead Divers arrived over the weekend and are they beauts! Does Dubuque now have a fly shop? East Dubuque had a bait shop back in the late 1960s when I worked for the T-H, but that was about it. My flies were all homemade, as they have been since I started fly fishing. You’d think I’d be much better at this with all these years behind me. Oh, well. Thanks for your participation. JGW
