Saw a vid for an Orange Asher Hacklestacker and decided to play around with it a bit. Unsure if the herl adds anything to the fly but it can’t hurt.

hook ? Dai Riki 305 #16
thread/loop - Danville 6/0 purple
overbody - peacock herl
hackle - grizzly
body - holo tinsel purple

Part 1

mash barb, start thread; tie in loop, wrap to bend

tie in herl and hackle

hook loop onto gallows, wrap herl up (body length) and back to base; tie off/trim

repeat with hackle

tie in tinsel; wrap to eye, tie off/trim

Part 2

stroke fibers back (no idea what it’s focusing on here)

pull forward; tie down

trim loop, whip finish, SHHAN (a little on the tinsel underside is optional)

Nice tie Scott. Of course, the Orange Asher Hacklestacker appears to be just a variation of Ned Long’s Hedgehog.

Interesting idea mixing the herl with the hackle. Any particular advantage to doing that or does it just look cool?

Thanks; did it pretty much for looks. Haven’t had the chance to try it out to see if it makes any difference.
